Several accounts mention that the Alcazar was bombed by at least one, probably more, three-engined planes.
Obviously the Republicans wouldn't have Ju52s so which three engined plane could it have been?

I know the Republican Air Force had at least one Avia 51 but that arrived much later.

Another, more realistic possibility is one of the 3-engined Fokkers F VIIs, but I thought most of these ended up in the Nationalist camp.
Extremely doubtful it would have been the sole Fokker IX or XVII.

Any ideas are most welcome!

Could it have been an SM-79 Sparviero? They were used in the Spanish Civil War, but perhaps not that early.

Again very doubtful since the SM 79s and 81s were exclusively on the Nationalist side.

There was a Russian tri-motor that the Loyalists had a few of, as well as I believe a French bomber.

Thank you very much Gary Seven!
Seems I will have to hunt down that book as well!
