Which are your favorite army lists from the Empires of the Dragon supplement?

Austin Rob23 Oct 2009 6:29 p.m. PST

Yi Korean. Lancer cavalry and medium foot with heavy weapons backed by bows and/crossbows should give Japanese a hard time.

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP23 Oct 2009 7:13 p.m. PST

Yi Korean, 3 Dynasty Korean, and Ming Chinese.

That being said, I simply despise all of the Samurai lists. Thats what I bought the book for (primarily)…and I cant see playing any of them as they stand currently.

There are more than a few that I like.

The Three Kingdom Koreans and related era lists with their pre-Confucian restriction on clothing color, They make very colorful armies.
The Koryo and Yi Koreans I like as well. I also like the Medieval Burmese, Thai and several others from this area. the Medeival Hindu lists look interesting.

Are the Samurai lists that sucky?

nycjadie24 Oct 2009 4:59 a.m. PST

I haven't read the lists but I bought them more for the 12-13th century armies of southeast Asia, namely Khmer, Burma, Siam, etc.

The Japanese is one of the best armies in the book.

It can have troops with heavy weapons, skilled swordsmen, offensive spearmen and bows.

It does depend on which Japanese army you chose though as their is one that doesn't look to clever.

Song Chinese is another that looks promising.

I've got a week yet before I get my book. I do have a Ming army still in the shipping box. No point in breaking it out yet. I'm still waiting for the artillery from Old Glory to be released.

Per Old Glory, "artillery for Ming and Koreans will not be produced in the current economic climate" !

Could be a long wait for you and me Mate!

Rudysnelson25 Oct 2009 3:52 p.m. PST

The Korean artillery in the Quatermaster Yi range was one of the good models.

Uesugi, I am glad that I didn't decide to get the Ming infantry and cavalry without the artillery being done first. I hate to see that there will be other manufacturers that have unfinished lines like Xyston.

Gee, I thought the Jap lists were the best, I am looking at fielding a whole army of pure MF, Armoured, Bow* Heavy weapon. I expect to loss most battles but gee, it will look great :)

skinkmasterreturns26 Oct 2009 2:15 p.m. PST

That must be a recent decision about the artillery.
