I've gotten my hands on the Doomwheel and it is a detailed model. It is very nice and I think it will go well with my original one. I hope to post an update after I build it. As to the small base sizes of the screaming bell and plague furnace, those machines are pushed into battle. The small base size means they fit well within the units pushing them. Looking at the pictures in Skaven book, they actually look quite impressive within their units. Also in the Skaven book is a picture of the Verminlord. He looks the same as the old one which wasn't a bad model. Digging through the book, I noticed they were using some of the new Skaven plastics as slaves. If, like me, you already have a ton of Skaven, this is an ideal use for the new plastics. I never picked up any of the metal slaves. One final note, as always, the book looks nice. I have only glanced through it but the Skaven player has more options then ever. Lots of nice odd-ball war machines and units. I can't comment on if there are any power-combos in there or not though. I'm just in it for the goof-ball machines. |

I am very much looking forward to the new models. Thanks for the quick review, Thomas! |

Do we still have the Ratling gun? I know it was changing, but how much? |

mweaver: You are Welcome. nazrat: Yes, I see there is still a Ratling gun. It is a weapon team that can be attached to a unit. I have a quick run down on the Skaven units at my blog: link I've just got the names mind you. I'll let players discover the juicy parts on their own! |

Do they show many terrain pieces of special objective markers? I saw the ex-Dwarf tower in a recent WD – any more pieces like that? |

In the book, I noticed several large statues of the same dwarf on one battle field. I also noticed some broken pillars and or platforms that had a dwarven look to them with runes on them. I didn't really see anything else that I think would be mass produced for sale. |

Anything scratchbuilt in the book? Forge World used to do a few large-scale resin Skaven pieces and busts, but they're long OOP, I believe. I'd love to see one or two Skaven-specific terrain pieces. |

I don't know if you have heard, jpattern2, but GW has announced the creation of a Fantasy version of Forge World – so the odds for race-specific terrain seem to be growing. |

I thought that FW already did fantasy terrain
|

They have some, but rarely add to the fantasy line. |

Excellent news! If they even do one percent of the number of models they've done for WH40K, that would be fantastic for fantasy gamers. |

"Also in the Skaven book is a picture of the Verminlord. He looks the same as the old one which wasn't a bad model." I had a brief look at the book today (local store's demo copy). I think that WAS the old verminlord – or is that what you meant? I have heard a rumor they are releasing one – hopefully a new sculpt that just wasn't ready yet when the pictures were taken. Although, as you say, the old one isn't bad at all. |

I still have my old one and back in the day he got a fair amount of play in our 3000 point and up games, so if they make a new one I will buy it for sure. I love getting the newer models if they're well done. |

There is some scratch build stuff in the book – A large Skavenified dwarven archway and some scaffolding. And yes, I ment the old Verminlord. |
