Can anyone suggest any books dealing with mercenaries? I am particularly interested in the sometimes called "Mercenary Wars" of Africa during the 1960s. Thanks!

Take care and have a great day….

ciao,
john.

Look for Mike Hoare's "Congo Mercenary", the classic account of 5 Commando in the Simba Uprising.

The best fiction I have read is The Dark of the Sun, by Wilbur Smith. Congo in early 1960's. Made into a pretty good movie too.

You may be able to find it in your library system.

Sounds like you may be more interested in Mike Hoare though en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Hoare

Thanks so far for the recommendations!

Fire Power is a good read. Shows exactly how glamorous being a mercenary is.

Shows exactly how glamorous being a mercenary is.

And how abbreviated a career it can be.
