But first, de Toes Guards gets connected to de Foots Guards
Why would you need different figures, by the way? Oh, yeah, right. The buttons. |

To be fair I didn't think much of Evan's Udarny range. Looking at them on the FoW site they looked like anorexic versions of his previous work. However after looking at them up close they actually are very good, and I ended up with far more of them than was healthy. I'm well underway with my Welsh Guards armoured, and ordering the parts for the Irish Guards and was eager to see these released. Again, from the website they look strange such that I'm ordering the previous LW Brit infantry box set but I can't help but think these could actually be quite good in the flesh. |

A couple of the photos from this thread show that is *is* possible to get a Mk II helmet to sit waaaay up on top of your head, if you do not have it adjusted properly: link But to have so many of them looking like that seems odd. The RSM must have been a casualty. The previous "assault" riflemen in the Mk III helmets were less disappointing. I'm glad I have a very large stash of the old BF late war infantry--which blend very nicely with Peter Pig's redo of their corresponding range. The "udarny" strelkovy started to grow on me, but I kept going back and looking at my classic BF strelkovy, and then they'd look wrong again. So when I get the new ones painted up, they'll go on the block. Not the assualt engineers, though; with their body armor, they're bulky enough to look all right next to the classic infantry (which are required to top them off with weapons); only a few odd poses had to be culled. The term comes from the original Foote's Guards, a unit raised by Major-General Sir Toemas Tarsalle-Foote during the brief (and entirely undocumented) reign of Dwayne I, which occurred during that slight pause you sometimes hear when people naming the rulers of England get to William III and stop to take a breath. And here I thought you guys knew everything. LT |

I confess I have never heard of Dwayne I. He must have been one of those New Zealander rulers of England, which would explain much about this. |

You don't remember from Jr HS History; "Dwayne I known as the pain During his rule the crops knew no rain England's treasury he did drain No silly purchase could he refrain Glorious was not his life or reign At least the Armadas stayed in Spain!" |

To be grammatically correct it should be Feet Guards, not Foots
;-) |

You guys are too much! Thanks for bringing a smile to my day. As far as I can tell, these figures' main advantage in battle is that if they turn sideways, they disappear and thus can't be hit. VERY thin soldiers are what win battles! |
