Just a quick note to let all you 'Nam gamers out there know we have added all the new Flashpoint Miniatures packs to our web site. These are predominantly the same figures as the previous incarnation but somewhat re-packaged. Some figures have also been re-sculpted.

You can get your orders in now and they will ship some time next month as soon as they are available:

And yes, we will have the Modern packs as well.

Mark
Could you please give us a hint on the Moders packs?

Good. I like their figures. I have a bunch of the US army guys and they paint up well and are nice robust 15mm figs.

Are they coming out with a new, more playable, version of the rules?

That's a nice addition to your line! Good news!!

Good news !

Now two questions: Will the whole line be coming back into stock? what about the rules?

TIA

Dennis:

Yes, the entire range will be re-launched. Developers are hard at work on the 2nd edition of the rules, but I'm not sure of the latest timeline.

The "First Edition" of their rules were horrible. Full of typos and omissions. So bad that they had to come out with an approximately 50 page errata. Even then they were still inconsistent and full of holes.

I'd steer clear until I see a review on Mark's site.

Does that mean the ME range got redone, as they were 17mm, not 15mm. I know there were plans to have the masters remade to 15mm, to match the Vietnam range.

I second Bede19025, i bought the first edition and never had a worse set of badly written, poorly tested full of mistakes rules in my life,

most of the minis were nice (except for a few with RPG's which all came out bent and broke when straightened,)

I wish you the best of luck with them,

I have to agree with Jim. I think there was a great rule set in there, but the book as published was literally incoherent. Rules, charts and examples all disagreed with each other, and sometimes with themselves. Lots of good ideas, but clearly it was never read by anyone outside the playtest group before it was published.

I believe the moderns are the new, 15mm moderns not the old 17mm chunky ones, but I will have to confirm that with Flashpoint.

GeoffQRF21 Oct 2009 5:52 a.m. PST

I never quite understood the rationale behind the 17mm scale. They seemed to say it was because people doing modern tended to do skirmish, and that meant a larger scale, but if you're going to do that surely go all the way to 20mm and capitalise on that market, or stay in 15mm and bounce off [other manufacturers are available] our extensive vehicle ranges. The 17mm range was such a between the two.

I never had a copy, but from the feedback the rules sounded like a great idea that fell down in execution – lots of good ideas dying to get out!

Perhaps, but there's nothing that &)E$^@ me off more than spending $25.00, which I did, on something that's not ready for prime time and where, moreover, it's completely obvious that it's not ready.
