Hi guys,

The project is now underway. I have two years to finish it. This is the daunting stage; with the first painted units sitting next to the to do units – masses of 'em!

I do this every time (mad) but it concentrates the mind.

A picture says more than a thousand words so…..

Amazing. Beautiful paint jobs as always. So which manafacturer's kid did you put through school? :)

I've been wondering how you were getting on with them; the first units look really splendid. I like the shields; looks almost like marbling.

Cheers, Simon

The figures are Renegade – their unit offer was too much to turn down. I think putting one of their kids through a term of school might have been cheaper (at full price of course – grin).

Outstanding brush work, very nice!

Wow! Those are a knockout. Oh to have the discipline to stay focused for two years. Do you have a rule set in mind for the organization you have mapped?

Thanks for sharing,

Bill.

Nice job as usual James. Hard to go past Renegade's regiment deal. Downside of such generously sized lads is to make them fit in their ranks! The few I have needed their pila elevated.

Look forward to the Carthaginians and elephants.

It's about time we see some progress! :)

Fantastic work as always. I also like to buy all the lead before beginning a project, but nothing quite as daunting as the size of your Punic Wars project. Some don't care for Renegade's sculpting, but I certainly do. My Punic Wars Romans are mostly Old Foundry and 1st Corps. They will look like the Roman Children's Legion compared to yours.

Keep us posted and good luck.

James fantastic stuff.

Just returning to my Punic wars figures again so your site will give me a little push in terms of inspiration and encouragement to work through my much smaller lead pile. I like the idea of buying all the lead first so perhaps it's time Aventine got an order for an allied legion.

Hi SSRD,

buying all the lead certainly ties you in – you prove to yourself that you are not just messing about on a whim – a spend of £1400+ is not chicken feed; well, not for me at least.

Go for the big order with Aventine. I feel confident that it will concentrate your mind. The advantage being that you can actually see where the end is – rather than a list of future orders, which like the paper they are written on are normally next to worthless as an incentive.

"The advantage being that you can actually see where the end is" I can see where the end is; it's stacked in Foundry boxes on the top of every cupboard in the house! ;-)

I'll be painting 'til I'm 100.
