I was messing around with my 1/72 figures for basing with Warmaster and Warmaster Ancients. What size bases are you guys using for your 1/72 infantry, cavalry, and artillery? |

For our 1/72 warmaster convertion armies we just stuck with the book's use of 20x40mm. We put 3-4 infantry on a base or 1-2 cavalry. It didn't give the mass effect the rules go for, but they certainly worked for us. We could get huge fighting forces out of just 3 or 4 boxes per player. Your average box would get around 3 or 4 three stand units. |

i base infantry on 60mm by 20mm bases, 60mm frontage for everything and depth to suit has the added advantage of being DBX compatible, regards jim |

My 20s all go on 60mm frontage bases as per DBx basing standards. You can get four infantry or three cavalry onto a 60mm base easily. |

we use 60 x 20 for infantry , 60 x 40 for cavalry , we don't allow basing on the short edge ( shock , elephants etc ), just giving the relevant plus 1's whatever
we use the dbx figure styles , using 2 figures on a base for skirmishers , light cav and 3 figs on a base for archers
standard cav are 3 or more on a base and standard inf 4 or more on a base .. we play WMA in 15 and 20mm and we are looking forward muchly to warmaster napoleonics :) |

I fourth(or whatever) what everyone else says about the DBx basing. I did Warmaster in 15mm,and this is what I did. Not only can I play Warmaster,as the depth isnt really that crucial, but several other games with the same figures. |

Depth is crucial in warmaster, as it affect flank contact, plus follow ups. If it was me I'd stick with 40x20. If you want more figures per base, thus have to make the bases bigger, scale everything, including rules, up |

I use 50x30mm. It used to be 50x25mm just a small step bigger from 40x20, but then you get some problems with horses and chariots who won't fit. see my blog for examples, all 1/72 plastic and based for warmaster. plasticgeneral.blogspot.com jack |

Depth isn't that crucial in Warmaster. We play it with DBx based 25mm figures (60mm wide bases), and it works fine. Sure, there are minor discrepancies, but it doesn't really affect the game that much |

stand size: 20x40mm 2 infantry figs per stand 1 cavalry figs per stand 3 stands = 1 regular unit (infantry/cavalry) 4 stand = veterans |
