On a certain board at TMP (no matter which) a gentleman is complaining about the plethora of rules, figures and paraphenalia for this given period, and how confusing it all is. While I have sympathy for him, I also think he should experience the difficulties of trying to game a little know conflict like the Guano Wars. Figures? Rules? Does anyone know where I can get 15mm guano?? |

is that 15mm size, or do you mean scale? --and is it to the eye of the guy buried in it or the top of his headgear? In an attempt to actually address the subject
Choosing to game an obscure era/battle is fun, really: more like what I would classify "old school", ie: there's little to nothing available commercially, so you have to make it/fake it yourself. In such a venue, proxies are the rules rather than the exception, and it can be an interesting challenge devising a means to indicate how high the heap of guano is per stand

Does anyone know where I can get 15mm guano?? Not a good scale for naval games. I'd suggest ACW ships flying Spanish/Chilean/Peruvian flags and ACW naval rules. Or, for a less serious response, a number of manufacturers make great bats, such as Splintered Light. Perhaps they'd be open to suggestions on making guano markers for the goblin heavy cavalry on giant bat units. |

Tumbling Dice make several of the ships involved in 1/2400 including the famous and still extant "Huascar." |

North Head Miniatures does many of the ships in 1/1200th scale including the homemade peruvian ironclad Loa though it's not listed on their website yet. |
