The metal is certainly rolling hot at the GZG metalwerkz….

Tonight on Dropship Horizon…..GZG's latest bit of sexy AFV hardware….the 15mm ACAV (Air Cushioned Assault Vehicle):

Cool, an alternative combat car for those who want more variety in their Hammer's Slammers games.

Jon Tuffley is ON FIRE! That is a very, very nice GEV.

Now where's that AV6?… <ducks>

Top Gun Ace13 Oct 2009 11:27 a.m. PST

I like it.

Very nicely sculpted, and a more substantial combat car.

Sadly, he seems to be distracted from working on flying troopers with anti-grav/rocket/jet-packs, so hopefully someone else is working on those. ;-)

All kidding aside, I need a bunch of those – at least two factions please, e.g. UNSC, Light Vacc Suit, or New Israeli troopers would be superb.

Very cool. Almost strikes me as a very well armed future police vehicle. GZG is truly at the top of their game at the moment.

Thanks for all the good comments, and to Mark for putting the preview pics up on DH!
Yes, the ACAV would certainly do as an "aggressive" police vehicle; for military use, it's really best suited for roles like convoy escort, anti-insurgency work and "peacekeeping" duties.
Now that I've got the hull, I'm thinking of converting it to make a more conventional closed-top APC as well, I think the shape would work for that, and would provide a heavier GEV carrier than the rather light Wombat models. We'll also be doing some other hover vehicles on the same skirt platform in due course.

A closed top model/fast attack model along the lines of a GEV from the Ogre world would look great on those skirts.

And the answer to my thread of a few weeks ago appears.

You win. 15mm sci-fi here I come.

Almost reminds me of something out of South Africa in the 80s. So again, good for riot/ insurrection control or anti-insurgency.

Very very tasty :)

Hi Jon

Thanks. How about a closed-top but with M113 ACAV style gunner positions link

Very nice, but enough of the 15mm already. Bring out more 25mm goodness. Gah.

28mm has had a long run with 15mm fading into obscurity for the longest time. Let us have our YEAR grin.

I want vehicles. Too expensive in 25mm. I can see myself delving into something Firefly influenced and 15mm once I'm financially sovent again.

also in 15mm I can see putting a small ship/shuttle (that doesn't too stupid) on the table which would be impossible in 28mm.

Failure1615 Oct 2009 11:37 a.m. PST

Wow. That's unexpected, and an answer to at least one of my miniature needs.

If it were in 6mm, of course. Who, pray tell, do we have to convince to port this particular beauty over to the *proper* scale? (heh)
