Are their any manufacturers who make 25/28mm Luftwaffe field Division troops? Thanks, Bob C. |

I'm pretty sure yuo can just use normal Heer troops painted in Luftwaffe colours. The only real uniform differences were the Luftwaffe eagle and rank badges rather than the army ones. |

Well apart form the LFD splinter smock/coat that was issued
Nothing like that in normal Heer issue. Also early units had the Luftwaffe tunic that was different in cut to the army one. Im afraid I dont know if anyone makes them in 28mm. |

LFD smock was issued only to the first draft, most of those coats were buried in graves in Russia by about six months after the units were sent to the front. For the major of the existence of LW Fd Div troops they wore standard army kit as Martin said! |

What about the LFD in Normandy? Some of those had the LFD smock which wasnt issued till '43? |

"LFD smock was issued only to the first draft, most of those coats were buried in graves in Russia by about six months after the units were sent to the front" The Luftwaffe splinter pattern jacket was common to all Luftwaffe ground troops until the very end. Not only the Luftwaffe field divisions (who continued to be supplied through Luftwaffe channels after the Heer took them over) but the HG division, then HG Korps, as well as FJ formations wore them. |

It became a bit of a fashion statement with all sorts of commanders like many things Luftwaffe Herman ensured there were an abundance , over abundance, of them. and the field blue uniform..which usually wasn't all that blue and blue anklets and blue bread bags, which were quite blue would help differentiate them and brown webbing and pouches rather than black..that said the Heer took control of all Lufwaffe Fieldld divison formations , less the flak detachmnets which Goering kept under Luftwaffe control, other than the HG at the end of 1943 and there would be an increasing number of Heer uniforms seen, especially in those elements that don't have a traditional Luftwaffe background such as artillery and engineers..and you can have a pushbike company in your fusilier battalion. Artilley was usally quite a hotpotch of Soviet and French guns.. though each battery mamaged to have the same gun type in it.. |

I reenact Luftwaffe field division,so I know the history, and uniforms. I have a splinter B ground troops jacket, and a later tan'water jacket. I have the normal Luftwaffe issue fliegerbluse and trousers, with the jager green collar patches, and green piped shoulder boards. For later war,I have a Heer M43 tunic with Luftwaffe breast eagle and shoulder boards. I wear original Heer gaiters and brown leather leather gear, or web. The Heer took over supplying these units when they were absorbed into the Heer in late 43. GrotGnome was correct, the Luftwaffe camo jacket was very popular, and well in use till the very end. So, does anyone make these figures?? LOL! Bob C. 40 JR/20th LwFD. |

There was an order with Eureka Club 100 for HG Div figures in 28mm. I think Iron Ivan placed the order. Don't know the status

Rhino: I can't seem to find it on the 100 club page any more. I was hoping it was getting closer to the limit needed to get it off the ground. I will have to email Nic. Keith |

People reenact the LW field divisions? >> Yes we do! Been doing it about 5 years now.Its a change from all the "Uber Elite" troops that a lot of reenactors do. Bob |

This was a reply from Nic R in response about the HG Div figures in their Club 100 requests: "My apologies, but this request was taken down from the 100 Club some months ago. We hadn't received any new requests for it in over 12 months. The main problem with this particular request was the large number of variants required, and the necessity to make the weapons oversize, so that they would be compatible with other ranges, but not our own figures. All the best" Nic |

16/17/18 FD(L) all wore the luftwaffe combat jacket. Don't forget though that some of the troops in these units were POA or other eastern units. In 16 & 17FD there was also a core unit of FJ who acted as field combat experts. Most FD units get a bad rep, but as guys whose first job wasn't leg infantry they didn't do so bad. And there were elemnts of bravery right up with the best. When the support artillery coastal battery from 17FD were outflanked by Polish armour and infantry units attached to a Canadian divison, the Poles gave the German NCO's and technicals the opportunity to surrender but told them that the eastern troops would be executed. All the germans stood there ground to the end. There are loads of small scale actions and operations that you could do with these units. |
