I am slowly getting my HotT War of the Worlds army (The theme name for a turn of the 20th century game) started and one of the elements will be a Beast element, using the monster from Forbidden Planet (Yeah, I know a different story/movie), and picked up a really good figure for him yesterday. But what color should he be. In the movie we don't actually see him (he was animated by Disney Studios), just his outline when he hits the "wire" perimeter. I've done some searches and found picture and here's how he looked in the movie picture I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks Terry |

Do you want the miniature to look like the monster in the movie? Maybe all black with a dry brushing of copper. Mike |

What miniature are you using to represent him? I wouldnt mind having one also. As for color if the miniature is metal polish it up, dip it in a blue wash, dry brush some dayglo orange highlights, and spray it with a gloss coating. Eyes could be dayglo yellow. |

Well, if you want to paint it as having achieved material form, then you might want to look at paint-ups of Tony McVey's ID monster sculpt, like this one: picture |

You could always go the Johnny Quest route for invisible monsters, and assume someone has bombed it with paint balloons, for a randomly colored effect. Of course, we will need flying jet/rocket pack troops for the game table, to permit that. |

I'd suggest using Krylon Crystal Color.. #1295 Coral Reef.. (a reddish-orange) over a *very* white primer.. and a hit with glitter 'drops'.. either the gold or the red as prefered. The glitter drops produce a spray of small droplets, very shiny.. (think verrrry tiny Christmas tree glass balls..). This would give the effect of the energy bolts hitting.. Crystal Color is a spray that gives a satin transparent finish.. hard to describe but somewhat like an ink wash.. but not exactly..:-) It doesn't 'pool' like an ink would.. so no dark spots.. Gentlemen, thank you all very much for the help and suggestions. It seems some kind of non-color or black with a highlight of a day-glow red shade to reflect hitting the wire pervades, and I like it too. But I think it is going to have to be done carefully to achieve the right look. I also appreciate the link to the other post as I did not find it in my search before making mine. As for the figure I am going to use, I ahve two options. One a four legged figure a fellow gamer (thank you Paul Potter) gave me yesterday and one that I obtained from "15 MM.UK" (see the link below to see him). Neither are absolutely correct, but are close enough for my need. I suspect the $45 USD one is a large model and since I am using 15 MM figures for the army, I don't want him too large, and also want to be able to mount him on a 40 x 40 MM base. 15mm.co.uk/GA4.htm Again, my sincere thanks for the input and help!
