I've been reading the thread about using 10mm buildings with 15mm figures, and it makes sense to me in mass battle games. My question is would one use 20mm or 15mm buildings in 25mm battle games, such as ACW, Colonial, Napoleonics? Do folks scale down fences and trees as well, though maybe make the fields a bit bigger or the same size? (I always feel ACW games use cluttered tables regardless of scale, often with the world's smallest fenced fields.) |

Nyet for me. Although I have read and seen some do that, and/or use a single building with a matching base to represent a town, or several buildings. |

"My question is would one use 20mm or 15mm buildings in 25mm battle games, such as ACW, Colonial, Napoleonics?" Yes if the figure representation is not 1:1. Buildings should be closer to the ground scale than the figure scale. |

"Yes if the figure representation is not 1:1. Buildings should be closer to the ground scale than the figure scale" Although by that logic you should be using 6mm building with 28mms figures which might be accurate but looks daft :) |

"Although by that logic you should be using 6mm building with 28mms figures which might be accurate but looks daft :)" The "rule of thumb" is "one scale down", so with 28mm figures you would use 20mm or 15mm buildings (as indeed the OP asked). |
