Hi Friends,
Just to know your various POV.
Personally I use 20 mm round. They can be handled easily on detailed terrains, reducing the half-here and half-there situations and are small enough to play in interiors without problems.
What about you?

2p coins (with Queen's head downwards!)

Square 20mm. Good for fire arc calculations and I had a lot of them laying around.

1p or 2p coins depending on size of figure.

I recently bought 300 3/4" steel washers for about 6 cents a piece. That way I can put them on magnetic movement trays if needed. 3/4" is just shy of 20mm – so they can easily fit on movement trays made for bases that size. Dean

US nickels. (The penny seems too small & light, though I've known others who have gone that way.)

Square, 20mm and 25mm. Then the figures are based to go in movement trays for WHFB, WAB, etc.

The thing is, some game systems don't care about facing, and they can use square or round bases. Other systems do care about it, and they don't work so well with round. So using square bases covers all your, er, bases.

For 28mm I use my 1 inch rounds most of the games i play don't worry about facing gamecraftersltd.com

Thanks you all.
This makes me ask a new question in a new Topic "Facing in skirmishes"

Square 20mm with the corners clipped.
(20x40 with clipped corners for mounted).

Look much nicer than squares.
Can rank up unlike round bases.
Unambiguous facing unlike round bases.
Can fit figures easier than 20mm round, but take up much less room than 25mm round.
