NOTE:

It must to be for something you use ALL the time in wargaming, sculpting, painting, etc. (WITH MINIATURES). Of course, if you don't know the inventor's name, just mention the invention.

My nominee . . .

Dr. Fritz Klatte, the inventor of PVA glue (1912)

Now, who would YOU nominate?

CC

Russian Bear09 Oct 2009 5:31 p.m. PST

The inventor of beer.

Cacique Caribe09 Oct 2009 5:34 p.m. PST

Now, now. You know better than that, Russian Bear! :)

Unless you use beer to thin out your paints or strip miniatures.

Cold Steel09 Oct 2009 5:35 p.m. PST

The guy who invented the automatic multi scale historically correct figure painting machine. But we may have to wait a little longer to find out who he/she/it is.

Ed the Two Hour Wargames guy09 Oct 2009 5:37 p.m. PST

The inventor of the guy that puts beer in bottles. Honorable mention the guy that put it into cans.

GreatScot7209 Oct 2009 5:42 p.m. PST

The original formulator of Future Floor Finish-hands down. For the record, if I had any sisters, I'd probably offer them to him in marriage as well.

Cacique Caribe09 Oct 2009 5:45 p.m. PST

Kyoteblue,

Breast enlargements on miniatures? Well, that must have been a sculptor at Ral Partha*/TSR or something like that, right?

Dr. Harry Coover and Fred Joyner of Kodak Laboratories, who discovered cyanocrylate adhesives in 1942.
They were even after a military use!

I like beer.

aecurtis Fezian09 Oct 2009 6:57 p.m. PST

Beer, boobs, and CA are not a good combination.

Pizzagrenadier09 Oct 2009 6:58 p.m. PST

CA is my vote. Don't know what I would do without it.

Jeff Ewing09 Oct 2009 7:00 p.m. PST

William Petersen, inventor of vise grips. It would have to be a posthumous award.

Jakse37509 Oct 2009 7:05 p.m. PST

Julie Guthrie, for all the fine sculpts i have painted.

Also a big shout out to the guy who invented the ergonomic chair that i use. many a mini would be still naked without him/her

Bunkermeister09 Oct 2009 7:08 p.m. PST

Mr. X-Acto for the invention of the knife system and the good old #11.

jpattern209 Oct 2009 7:52 p.m. PST

The inventor/formulator of Future, then of CA, then of X-Acto knives, and finally of the Dremel MotoTool.

I raise a glass to all of you gentlemen and ladies, whoever and wherever you may be!

Sundance09 Oct 2009 8:27 p.m. PST

The inventor of the Sham-wow!

(No, I'm just kidding…)

Jakar Nilson09 Oct 2009 8:32 p.m. PST

The Canadian and the Yank that got the prize this year for the Charge Coupled Device sensor belong in this category. After all, it's the basis for the digital camera.

Reserve one for the person who finally invents tartan paint.

It would have to be Steve Jobs or however invented the Mac computer, otherwise I would not be able to participate in this group. Or maybe it should be Al Gore who invented the internet, otherwise I would not be able to participate in this group. Or would it need to be Ben Franklin who invented electricity. Wow, just think how many people needed to invent things so i could participate in this group.

Zephyr110 Oct 2009 3:02 p.m. PST

Steve Hazuka10 Oct 2009 8:09 p.m. PST

See CC I'm understanding and avoiding the wit.

Dear Forum,

All of those who worked on the "Manhattan Project"(even those who didn't already have Nobel prizes), without their efforts and the subsequent "Doomsday Clock", how can I justify my lead-shield of thousands of unpainted miniatures which are strategically placed in my backyard fallout shelter….
