Sounds good, got to be worth a look when it opens.

Jamesonsafari09 Oct 2009 7:37 a.m. PST

Good luck to them. I applaud anyone with the cohones to open a brick and mortar store these days.

There have been a few shop openings recently.

All good news!

I wonder if gaming centres will be this recession's version of the soup kitchen?

Eldamarelf09 Oct 2009 9:54 a.m. PST

It will be nice to see a shop where people can just go into and play I will be frequenting the shop when it opens.

Actually renting the table space is a good idea. Cheaper than trying to support a club and it gets around the whole "only play with minis you've bought (or could buy) at the store" issue.

I understand it, but I have a lot of figures that wold never get played iwth if I had to limit myself that way.

Interesting news, Will have to visit. Hope they will deal in second hand figures I do like sorting through bits and pieces

Excellent! Somewhere else to go when I'm in Cardiff Central for my quarterly training/assessment (in addition to the wonderful Ian Allen Bookshop).

I popped in to see the guys today with a view to doing demo games. The shop area is small but the gaming area in fantastic. It's stone, has alcoves, low ceilings, and looks like it will fit 50 tables.

The guys say they hope to get some photos done as soon as it's ready but I guess that will be pretty close to their opening time. Roll on Oct 24th! I can't be there as it's my son's birthday but I will be there the following week playing and demonstrating a bit of WW2 using Rules of Engagement.

popped in today and it's a great store, with an amazing amount of tables out the back to use.

plus 10% off rrp so I'm makeing up a shopping list now

ok maybe that last bit is just an excuse to buy more lead but at least I'm going to support my local game shop wink

A good shop that deserves supporting. Great gaming area. The owner has some great ideas for the future. Not far from Cardiff Central so easy to get to. Go see?

Typical – I'm about to go and visit, so I click on the website to link to get the address and map… and the site's gone…

Can someone give me the address please?!

Stuart at Great Escape Games04 Nov 2009 11:30 a.m. PST

It is firestormgames.co.uk

Seems to be down at the moment.

Well I found it without any hassles and was very impressed! The proprietor is a very friendly guy and obviously very passionate about his vision for the business, having achieved a great deal in a short space of time. The games room is very impressive indeed!

I look forward to my next visit and wish Firestorm Games the best of luck!

Can I just echo how helpful the owner is. I took my 8 year old in for his latest fix of GW and not only did he help maximise the stuff he could get for his £20.00 GBP but he answered questions patiently and even allowed the aforementioned 8 year old to handle some of his beautifully painted figures.
I feel I will be spending a lot of money there in the future – especially as he plans to carry perry plastics and warlord games stuff after Christmas!

Fishbuckle20 Nov 2009 2:29 a.m. PST

Wow, that looks really great. Why do these things always open after I move away from a city…?
