Hi hope this isnt too an annoying question.

I'm just starting on ACW gaming for the first time and am frantically reading as many books as I can get and listening to some lecture series to get some good background. I will be gaming it in 10mm using Napoleon's Legacy ruleset (sort of Warmaster/Blitzkrieg Commander derivative). What I am after is some scenarios or ideas for real battles (or parts of battles) that would suit gaming at a brigade level- 8-10 regiments/ couple of brigades a side.

Ive found GHQ's free scenarios and a couple of those could be used well enough, but wondered if the experts in here had any tips or ideas?

Cheers.

The Johnny Reb III yahoo group has a database of published scenarios for regimental level battles:

Scott Mingus' scenario books on Gettysburg and Antietam are fantastic. Scott's Charge magazine always has new scenarios:

Potomac Publications also published some scenario books, available here:

If you are using the GHQ scenarios I would recommend using the GHQ ruleset as well. It's an elegant set of rules.

And I wouldn't worry about asking annoying questions on TMP. As my answer has no doubt illustrated, the answers you receive are likely to be more annoying than the questions you pose.

I too have been looking for some small free regimental scenarios!

Cold Steel's links are the best for use with Legacy!

Pick up any book by John Michael Priest:

Before Antietem – the Battle for South Mountain
Antietem
The Wilderness

He breaks the battle down to the brigade level with detailed maps showing what each regiment is doing. These are ideal for ACW scenarios.
