Howdy all, Well after falling in and out of love and possibly back in love again with FOW, I have been crashing on with my ACW. I finally went with Peter Pig 15mm, based purely on the fact that erm… I like them. I've also got a few items from that there ebay (whilst supposedly trying to find a gift for the wife)… One of which is this little unit. Not a bad price and undercoated and started off. BUT what are they supposed to be? Zouaves I guess, but what type? The more I research and the more I read on here (bloody clever bunch you lot are as well), the more confused I get. Here is the link, and any painting help you can give me would be absolutely lovely! Do I need to tear them down and start again?

The pic won't get any bigger on here. BUT I've seen a bigger one. The ones who are finished have brown jackets and red cloth cap with like a bit hanging down the back. I'm thinking that this must be painted wrong… And having read through the threads on here, brown is a difficult beast to corral when it comes to jackets. What was I thinking. I should have just left the whole ACW thing as a nice to have (but never do)… ;0) |

Could be a start on, I believe, the 10th New York. One of their several uniforms had brown jackets with red trim and light blue pants. |

I think it could be either the Tigers or the 10th NY – I would say that you could use them as either, which is great because then you have a Union AND a Reb Zouave unit |

Except that the Tigers would have blue striped pants and the 10th NY would have sky blue with a red stripe down the side. At this point you could make them either, but I don't agree with the brown jackets for the Tiger Zouaves. I know it's something that could be argued, so it really is your choice. |

On the Tigers the fez would be red and the jackets blue. So, your best bet would probably be strip them down and start over. Then they could be any unit you want. |
