I don't know if this has been officially announced by HMGS or not, but one of the things that I found out at the Games in Education Day in Baltimore last week was that Cold Wars 2010 has expanded to four days. There will be games scheduled for Thursday. That much is mentioned on the HMGS web page for Cold Wars 2010, if you look at the fine print. The posters for Cold Wars 2010 at the GED said that the convention had expanded to four days. You can plan your gaming calendar accordingly. |

I thought it was always a four day event
no? |

Friday, Sat. & Sunday in the past. Some pick up games on Thurs. night. |

Oh, that's probably why I thought it was a 4 day event. Thanks for the correction. |

Will the vendor hall be open on Thursday? |

Great! All day Thursday, but vendors can start at noon, or even Friday morning if that is easier for them. A whole day of gaming, with out distractions from shopping is good. Flea markets on Thursday would be good. Travel is a very expensive cost for me, in time and money so once I am there, the more gaming the better. |

Not surprised I am expecting to make Cold Wars this year and will plan on the extra day. I suspect Historicon is headed for 5 days, though added lodging costs may limit that first day |

Last year there were a few games on the PEL for Thursday night. I wonder if 2010 won't be the same with registration still starting Thursday at 6pm and just a few games that evening. |

The website says "games will be scheduled Thursday night". That is the same as this year, though IIRC there were only a couple in the PEL for Thursday night. |

We (ODMS) have been playing Thursday night games for years at Cold Wars (as we do Wednesday night games at Historicon). Seeing something done 'Officially' is a nice touch. Of course, I miss smoking my pipe in the lobby of the Lancaster Host and playing games out there (it seems that a good pipe, and a DBA game last about the same amount of time). But, the times do change, and I understand that not everyone understands how much more pleasant wargaming and conversation become with an aromatic pipe in the room. Chuck |
