Which one would win a straight-up, knock-down fistfight between the two toughest soldiers in the comic-books? |
| coryfromMissoula | 03 Oct 2009 10:41 a.m. PST |
Rock hands down, he was meaner. |

I would have to say Sgt. Rock! Fury depends too much on his gadgets! |

Rock beats Fury. And paper and scissors and just about anyone/anything else he decides to beat. Except maybe Chuck Norris. They'd just lock eyes, salute the Stars and Stripes, and join forces to crush the massed forces of evil in the universe. |

As a DC fan from the 1960s. I would also say Sgt Rock. More realistic stories than Sgt Fury. |

Sgt Rock was a Boxer before the war, so Rock wins! |

Fury might win if he cheated, but my money would be on Rock. Kapow! Pow! Ratatat! |

My money would be on Rock if we're talking about them meeting as soldiers in WWII. The original Sgt. Fury was a regular soldier. All those "gadgets" didn't come in until Fury became a spy in the 1960s. If the two men met after that, my money would have to go to Fury. He was a trained agent and I think he could have beaten Rock at that point of their careers (also, keep in mind that Fury was being kept young by artificial means, whereas Rock was aging naturally. So, by then, Rock was a middle-aged man while Fury was still in his physical prime. As for the comics, by the way, I definitely prefer Sgt. Rock. Those old stories were great, and the Kubert artwork was top-notch. |

Rock in his prime would beat Fury any day. Plus, Rock is just plain cooler than Fury, "in my opinion of course." I think Russ Heath and John Severin did the best art for Sgt. Rock. |

I agree with mmitchell'reasoning, but I would root for Rock no matter what! By the way, Russ Heath was my favorite artist to draw Sgt. Rock. |

If we can move up to officers, Captain Hercules Hurricane could take both on at once |

Rock and Easy Co. would eat Fury and his "Howlers" for breakfast and send 'em screaming home to mama like a bunch of whipped girls

I'm going to buck the trend and go with Fury. He was more than just a regular soldier and had some serious additional training. While Rock might have had some training in fighting and been a fine soldier I think that Fury would have the edge in a fight. |

Sgt Rock, in the 12th round by a knock out. |

Sgt.Rock. He's the Clint Eastwood of comic book characters. |

In an attempt to open this up to British TMP'rs [although admittedly we did get Sgts Rock and Fury when I was young]
can we include Captain Hurricane. Personally I think he'd wipe the floor with these US upstarts! |

My god
it's come to this
I'm debating the relative merits of old comic book characters in a fight
kill me now

As a kid Fury bored me to tears. Put me down for Sgt Rock (played by Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson! |
