Wow! There is someone for everyone.

You need to make your self a gamer chick. Find a normal chick, have her be amazingly attracted to you and introduce her to it slowly. Over time she will be wargaming with you and your friends and perhaps even by herself at times. It isn't hard, you just have to find the right material to start with.

I wonder if it would be useful for finding gaming buddies without the romantic component?

Pictors Studio03 Oct 2009 11:15 a.m. PST

I think you might be barking up the wrong tree there Beloved.

See, I'm married, and my wife would like to RPG, but not if she is the only woman. And I have been unsuccessful at finding any other female gamers to add to my group. Hence my curiosity lol!

jeffrsonk03 Oct 2009 12:42 p.m. PST

I'm married to a woman who enjoys gaming; my best friend is another woman who enjoys gaming, as are at least two of my other female friends. (And yes, two of them distinctly enjoy playing miniatures wargames.) One of them found a guy using the website Axabrax linked to.

They are out there; they may not necessarily be attracted to YOU, but they're out there.

Pictors, agreed! It worked for me!

Although, for her first exposure to wargamers don't take her to a DBM con… it was wierd and scary.

One hint : if you find she likes cats, show her Wargods of Aegyptus and show her basti…

chronoglide03 Oct 2009 12:48 p.m. PST

'introduce her to it slowly'
is that gaming or tranvesticism?…..

Derek H03 Oct 2009 1:22 p.m. PST

I met my wife at a D&D game.

Neotacha03 Oct 2009 1:45 p.m. PST

Punkrabbit, I'm the only woman in my gaming group. It's not so bad, really. I'm just one of the guys in the group.

My wife attended a bigtime "gifted" school, but didn't know how big a geek she was until I exposed her to it. I STILL find that wierd.

Will my computer die if I click that link? (the 1st one not the youtube one, which is very funny btw)

Let your girl friends know what your interests are. My wife of 34 years said one of the reasons she married me was because I had so many interesting hobbies. The other day she walked by our desk and started laughing. "You are the only 63 year old guy I know of who would have a set of rules for Victorian Science Fiction Flyer Combat on his desk." (Aeronef)

She has played board wargames but never miniatures. Doesnt particularly care for either board or miniature wargames. Likes other kinds of boardgames though.

I have enough trouble finding any players now you want me to specifically recruit girls?
Not that I wouldn't play with them but I can't get a game organised at all.

Delta Vee04 Oct 2009 2:56 a.m. PST

i think if i did that my wargaming wife would kill me! though she was a roleplayer before we met, and came into warging with the attitude " if you cant beat them, join them, then beat them."

Black Cat Bases04 Oct 2009 3:03 a.m. PST

Seconded Neotacha, make absolutely no difference to me either! Jo:)

Getting my wife interested in North-west frontier or naval wargaming would be well and truly classed as fantasy gaming.

Hmm, this could be interesting. I dropped my previous gf of 5 years because she wouldn't let me game (not enough anyway). From a first browse, anyway,a lot of obviously fake profiles came up (my first match is an Asian girl living near me and 202 cm tall!)
My suggestion in the real world would be to attend gaming/comic book conventions and get interested in anime and cosplay, that's where the more attractive girls (at least here in Italy) tend to stick. Some are also into RPG but they are generally not single as it's their boyfriends who brought them to gaming… and when they break up with the boyfriend, they generally drop out of gaming.

Chortle Fezian04 Oct 2009 9:29 p.m. PST

I recruited thirty girls into my University role playing and wargaming society (SWARM – Sussex Wargaming and Roleplaying, with M just to make the word) one Fresher's fair. Five of them actually showed up and started playing.

I did have to tell a fair few lies to get the girls to sign up. I said we were an essentially social society and that we used games for bonding. I was on fire that day! My fellow gamers held me in awe.

She knew FULL WELL what she was getting into when we got married.

Just recently, we started to play a 'family night' game of D&D…

I signed up for a free account. Matches are storming in. Unfortunately, there seem to be none closer than 4000 miles to me (as usual, Italian women feel that using dating sites is below them and the next closest thing to prostitution). You need to have a paying account if you want to send messages anyway. I think this is the reason why they inserted a few fake accounts based in my country, so that guys are enticed to sign up to message that 202 cm tall Asian girl in Rome, or that south african blonde bombshell that uses an adult film star picture :-)
The thousands of hot, single and looking gaming women who undoubtedly read TMP every day looking for dates can find me on Gk2Gk under my usual handle, Ganesha Games.

"You are the only 63 year old guy I know of who would have a set of rules for Victorian Science Fiction Flyer Combat on his desk."

Yeah, how bizarre for 'Victorian' to appeal to an old guy?

CooperSteveOnTheLaptop06 Oct 2009 6:36 a.m. PST

Our blonde friend in her early 30s with an absolutely huge bosom is getting into Legends of the Old West & is looking for a man. Needs to be a fully paid-up Christian tho'…
