Does anyone know if cavalry in the American Civil War was trained to assault in a column of companies? Thanks for the insights!

Pleasonton's attack during Chancelorsville was in column but the companies had no room to deploy. I would think the "parade ground" tactic would more likely be by squadron. Believe I have read such stories though I can not recall a specific incident. Brandy Station and the Valley are likely places to look for it.

Can't recall every reading of such. Column of squadrons yes, column of 4s, yes, but companies, no.

Thanks for the help gents. I couldn't think of any examples either.
