Does anyone know if cavalry in the American Civil War was trained to assault in a column of companies? Thanks for the insights! V/R Billy Yank |

Pleasonton's attack during Chancelorsville was in column but the companies had no room to deploy. I would think the "parade ground" tactic would more likely be by squadron. Believe I have read such stories though I can not recall a specific incident. Brandy Station and the Valley are likely places to look for it. |

Can't recall every reading of such. Column of squadrons yes, column of 4s, yes, but companies, no. |
