Buy it, Buy it, Buy it.

Got my copy.

Buy it.

Ships for Feds, Klingons, Kzinti, Tholians and Orions. (As well as several of the the "common" units shared by all races like the Battle stations and Freighter).

It's clean and clear and should play about 10x faster than Star Fleet Battles and 6x faster than Federation Commander.

If you like Star Trek Space Combat gaming, here is the ticket.

They even made drones not nearly as annoying.

I'll be running a game at Millennium Con XII in November!

It's obvious the next one will be Starmada: Romulan Border and have Roms, More Feds, Hydrans, Lyrans, and Gorns

They even made drones not nearly as annoying.

Unfortunately, they made drones.

Only Warlock30 Sep 2009 1:23 p.m. PST

Well at least there are no "Scatter-Packs, Speed 32 Drones, or Kzinti Drone Frigates firing Speed-32 Drones", LOL

Deeman30 Sep 2009 1:31 p.m. PST

Does Starmada have preplotted movement? I heard it did and that's a deal breaker for me.

The regular rules do.

Thanks,

John

Yes it does, and it is quite simple.

Mutant Q30 Sep 2009 1:59 p.m. PST

Are the ships designed using the standard ship construction rules? If so it wouldn't be too hard for the Star Trek fans to tweak the designs into something more canonical.

Only Warlock30 Sep 2009 2:05 p.m. PST

They look pretty close and the basic ship construction rules are included in the Rule Book.

must be 20 years since i played star fleet battles, and even then it was getting complicated… is it still going then?

I want to get this and the new edition of the base

"at least there are no "Scatter-Packs, Speed 32 Drones, or Kzinti Drone Frigates firing Speed-32 Drones"

Sooo the Kzinti are even harder to play successfully than usual, then?

Only Warlock03 Oct 2009 9:44 p.m. PST

no, they are just different. Drones are just less tedious.

KTravlos03 Nov 2009 10:22 a.m. PST

Just a question. How easy and fast is it for a complete newbie to learn and then teach this game to someone.

Elvenblade03 Nov 2009 11:34 a.m. PST

if its essentially the same as normal Starmada a newbie should pick it up quite easily.

John Leahy Sponsoring Member of TMP03 Nov 2009 8:28 p.m. PST

Yeah, Starmada has a low learning curve. Great system.

Thanks,

John

Ijumpajav05 Nov 2009 3:30 p.m. PST

My impression after review, reread and 5-7 games of the rules……NEWBIE time to learn, 45 min to 1 Hour.

The amount of time that initial "Newbie" should take to teach second generation beginner…15 to 20 minutes.

This is not a "Simple" game. It is simply easy to understand. Tactics rule, veterans will win and "Newbies" will become veterans in a few butt whoopings.

KTravlos10 Nov 2009 8:37 a.m. PST

What kind of map does it use? Hex or free?

Regarding the post on plotted moves above: Is there any reason one can't play Starmada this way just by taking an initiative system from somewhere else?

I don't think it would be a problem but then I haven't played all that many games of Starmada either.

How many ship per side do you need for a 1 to two hour game?

AdAstraGames22 Nov 2009 12:19 a.m. PST

About 5-6.
