I've just finished putting together and painting up the rather lovely 5 sided saloon from Arnica Montana. All that is left to do is the sign that adorns the front of the establishment. Now here's where my problem occurs. I'm feeling rather unimaginative at the moment and cannot for the life of me come up with a name for the saloon that I like. So I'm putting it out to you guys to see if you can come up with something. Your suggestions please ladies and gentlemen. :-) |

I like to use names that relate to the setting. "The Longhorn Saloon" goes well in a cow-town, for example, or "The Golden Nugget" in a prospecting area. Or you can relate them to locale: you can't go wrong in Texas with a "Lone Star Saloon", and a Spanish-influenced name like "The Alhambra" or "The Palo Alto" goes well in New Mexico, or anywhere in border territory. Circa 1876, "The Centennial" was a popular choice. Or something exotic and a little shady
I like the sound of "The Shanghai Saloon" or "The Diamonback". "Gin & tonic, old chap; plenty of ice, just a sliver of lime
I say, don't stop the music on my account, what?" |

my suggestion would be to use some balsawood and make your sign on THAT (edge it with some additional balsa strips. Then blu-tak it in place. Then, three months later, when the coolest name EVER pops into your head, you don't have to repaint the sign on the saloon, just make yourself another sign. My plans include having multiple signs for my buildings. Perhaps that 5-sided saloon (in one game) becomes a hotel in another game. Paint "The XYZ Saloon" on the building itself, and you now have only a saloon. |
