I did a search on 20mm ACW gaming and did not find many discussions of this scale. Is anyone out there gaming ACW in this scale? I planned to several years ago but the plan fell by the wayside. I have some beautifully painted RSM and Musketeer miniatures that I purchased at Historicon about a decade ago. Trying to decide whether to keep them or sell them on Bartertown. Any thoughts from the gallery? Major B |

I play ACW in 20mm. My collection is from Newling in the UK. I have run several games using them at Cold Wars, Historicon, and FALL-IN!

I was just going to post that Andy has the Newline (not Newling!) 20mm and they are very nice. I have seen his games using JRIII and the figures are first rate. VR James Mattes |

I play 20mm Acw. There are lots of folks who do. Plenty of figs available in metal and plastic. We use Piquet's Field of Battle. Thanks, John |

I am working on some armies for the ACW using 20mm plastics. I think battles in this scale look a lot better on a table top then 28mm or 15mm. Chirs, Do you make ACW artillery? If so what type of guns do you have available? |

Sgts Mess, Tumbling Dice and Kennington also do some real nice 20mm. Qualiticast did but they are currently not in production. The Imex/Accurate/Revell plastic is superb. Would love to see Zvezda do the period!! |

This inspired me to look at the Newline stuff- £29.00 GBP for 100 figs OMG!!! Does anyone know how the Kennington/SHQ and Tumbling Dice figs compare for size? I will do a couple of units of Airfix just for old times sake. |

Another 20mm ACW advocate here Major B. I have incorporated a lot of Musket Miniatures metal in with my plastics. The huge variety available allows all sorts of interesting diorama like additions to be incorporated into games for eye candy. I like 28mm for my ancients where weapons ranges are less and 15mm for WW2 where weapons ranges are greater. Do not sell them. The 150 year anniversaries are about to crop up so keep them to play with through that period. |

The Sgts Mess line is the original SHQ line. The newer sculps are the same guy as Newline. Stylistically, the Kennington are very similar to Newline just a hair bigger. Tumbling Dice I believe are combatible as well. |

Excellent news guys and thanks for the feed back. |

Tumbling Dice come with separate heads and, command and cavalry figures have separate arms to attach. This does add a bit of variety but they are a little chunky when compared to the other lines in this scale. They would be OK with the Kennington figures but I wouldn't mix them with any others in this scale. |

I still have my old 20mm K&L figures from Oklahoma that I purchased from a classified ad in Civil War Times Illustrated nearly 30 years ago. Add K&L to the list of 20mm ACW makers. Quite a lot of variety out there, and N scale model railroad stuff works beautifully for 20mm! |

Thanks Milhouse, Has been a while. Took some time for our move across the country to happen, so the little men have been locked away for some time now (at least 18 months), so I've also been in hibernation. Moving into a new house tomorrow so might be back in the swing of things in a few weeks. Don't know whether you've seen but Art Miniaturen has made up some figures in Great Coats in this scale. This was to assist with the guys in Germany doing a Fredericksburg diorama using the trusty plastics. As we all know plastics has very little to offer in this area. They are very rough looking but still keen to get hold of some just to see what they look like in the hand. Unfortunately I'd have to sell off some body parts to afford the postage costs from Germany. Take a look anyway. link Scott, the K&L figures do have some old time appeal. A little on the small side for this scale, more likely due to scale interpretation between UK 20mm (closer to US 25mm) and US 20mm but we won't go there, as that's a whole other subject been thrashed to death many times over. |
