I can see the PRC (People's Republic of California) *trying* to invade north into Oregon, until they realize that there's no money to pay the Cal Guard At which point, the Guard is likely to desert en masse to a place that will feed them (or turn bandit). They might even manage to hold a bit, but there's a *BIG* mountain range between NorCal and Crater Lake, good spot to put a national border. The US federal government won't allow the taking of the Puget Sound. There's Fort Lewis, McChord AFB, Navsta Tacoma, Navsta Seattle, Navbase Kitsap (including the missile subs at Bangor), Navsta Everett, and NAF Whidbey Island. That's an awful lot of guns saying "don't even think about it."

Interdiction of the Mississippi River traffic would be considered an act of war between the RoT and what's left of the US (assuming that Ohio, Illinois and Michigan are still in the Union). RoT will not survive that discussion, especially since there are LARGE Union presences inside the territory already.

Idaho is a tough call. Idaho has a significant Union military presence, so there's a lot of pressure that way, but there's also the nutbars up north that can currently live off the land and want to declare independence.

just curious…

I'm not sure how many there are, but the number of native texans and other gulf coast troops within union units affect the outcome at all? In other words, would they desert and rush to augment Texan republic forces and bring in added fire power?

I dunno… Had a guy I served with that was very much a Texan, but I don't think he'd have deserted.

There's this huge bond between troops, especially in combat veteran formations, that seems to over-ride any sense of belonging to a state.

Any event that would drag the U.S. down will probably drag Mexico down as well. The only Mexican Forces entering Texas and the Southwest will be bandits or narcoenforcers.
Mexico has enough internal problems now to keep the military and law enforcement tied up…a post U.S. collapse would be a nightmare for them.

The Azlan crowd would be about as prosperious as Cuba(at best)but would more likely be like Somalia, have even worse issues than Mexico, and would fall to the first warlord/crimelord to overrun them. A resurgent U.S., Texas, and Mexico would certainly do them in.

How do you view the Texas Navy at the Port of Houston, after a couple of tactical nukes, in a glass bottom boat! LOL :D

Artraccoon09 Mar 2010 5:37 p.m. PST

Nuking the Port of Houston would result in missing the whole "Texas Navy".

Some TXN units would have been redeployed to Lake Sam Rayburn to compete in a bass fishin' competion, the some on the Red River to keep the Okies spooked and test beer, and the rest down off South Padre Island keeping on station doing bikini watches, and wet t-shirt inspections.

You will never be able to destroy the TXN, we've got more bass boat dealers than the U.S. has tacnukes!!

War Monkey09 Mar 2010 5:55 p.m. PST

Skeeter is the only bass boat manufacturer you all have down there one nuke in Kilgore, bye bye TXN game over! We win! We have more manufacturers of bass boats up here then any other state! Why because we know not to put all of our eggs in one basket!

Artraccoon09 Mar 2010 9:52 p.m. PST

WarMonkey…your nuke strike on Kilgore will not do anything more than what Kilgore has already done to itself.

War Monkey09 Mar 2010 10:00 p.m. PST

I guess striking Kilgore would have done you a favor then no more contamination of the gene pool. Mmmm might have to rethink that strike then. LOL
