I've got some really fancy Russian Hussars. These are big figures 28mm. IMO this is the best way to do Hussars as it really shows off the uniform. Most of my Napoleonic Cavalry is based on 60mm x 40mm metal bases. My problem is that the Hussar figure base is pretty close to 40mm which leaves the horses tail and nose (in some cases) hanging over the base. This creates problems with nesting, and frankly, if you mash them together this closely, you cannot really appreciate the figs / paint job. Never had this problem with MiniFig cav :P. What do you guys do with figures like this? mjc |

I recently started rebasing my cavalry from a 40mm square to a 50mm square. I had the same problems as you (tail and nose hanging over the base). It looks much better, the painting can 'breathe' a little and you can see all those lovely details. In your case, go with a depth of 50mm but keep the same frontage? In most rulesets, depth is not that important anyways. |

Likewise. I keep the recommended frontage and base them at 60mm deep. Have to protect those tails and noses! David |

For cavalry like that I normally stagger them on the bases so the "nest". Ed G |

50 mm wide and 60mm depth is best IMO. So you dont need to put all riders feet to feet. |
