These are looking very good but was wondering about the specific contents of the box. I think that the contents are more or less the same as the previous set but with different heads. Will mean that the ratio of Grenadiers/Volitigeurs will be a bit out though for earlier battalions. Officially, prior to 1808, each battalion had 9 companies, one greandier, one voltigeur (from 1804) and 7 fusilier companies. Prior to 1804, it was 8 fusilier and one Grenadier company. Given that the drummers and I think the NCO's are also from the elite companies, there will be too many elites and not enough fusiliers. I'll still get a box though cos my French Army is for the later period and I'll just mix the headgear with the shako's from the other set. The fanion and guy waving his hat are nice touches. |

Just got a box today. one quick look- Six grenadiers in bearskins, three eagle standards (although there are two 'axe' heads in for eagle guards) ,three drummers. Not sure about officers but there looks to be at least three and maybe as any as six. There are 60 in the box. more when I get home. |

I think the box is made up of two differeent sprues and you get two of each so there are 4 drummers, 4 eagle bearers and 8 officers. The contents of the box is almost the same as the French in shakos one but with different headgear. There are some nice extras like the fanion and chap waving his hat, shame that they didn't change the drummers arms though so it is a fusilier drummer instead of a grenadier one. The heads are really nice I think and they include a bonnet de police for the elite companys and fusilers, four of each. I already have the Shako box and will be mixing the two boxes together with mixed headgear. |

@bluewillow: From the Victrix website: "Around 1800 the French wore a slightly longer jacket than the one featured in this set, however, in 28mm this is hardly noticeable. Therefore, it is possible to use these figures the earliest of Napoleonic campaigns such as Marengo and Hohenlinden." I hope this is what you were after. |

I got about a battalion and a half out of the set. The second 'half' bn has at least six kneeling troops. What is nice is the cornet for the light company and the bearskins for the grenadiers. |

Good stuff! "shouldn't the habit veste be a different cut also?" No, it shouldn't change until 1808. When Victrix mentions the jacket I think they mean the coat jacket and not the habit veste. |
