No news about the Pocketmodel games (Pirates and Star Wars), which are the ones that matter to me.

This has been discussed at length on some of the Pirates and SWPM forums. The big concern is that NECA isn't a gaming company and doesn't know the market, so they're bringing in (as consultants) the same executives who ran WizKids into the ground.

I've read that Topps is not doing well.

No mention of MechWarrior

The Pirates games are mentioned, at least as an asset aquired

I think the Battletech IP has already left the building.

One thing with NECA buying them is that they have an good track record with their action figures – with reference to the quality of sculpting.

They did the cool Kill Bill series, Reservoir Dogs, Frank Miller's 300 & Sin City, Tarantino's Grindhouse etc.

Hopefully this will impact on future miniature releases. The quality of Heroclix sculpting, up until now, has varied from the really very good to the truly terrible.

The Battletech IP is still held by Topps, and was specifically excluded from the sales block.

"The Battletech IP is still held by Topps"

The curse of being the first property someone came looking for.

Battletech also already has some complex licenses attached, so selling it could be both a) selling a functional income stream (bad idea), and b) invoking unpleasant clauses in those licenses (bad idea, especially since one of them is with Microsoft).
