As the title says, of all the wargames/RPG's/boardgames, what's the one you played most often in your life? Let's keep this related to "Wargaming/RPG" though, so no Monopoly or the likes, but 'Wargaming related' boardgames are fair game. |
| Stephens123 | 21 Sep 2009 7:32 a.m. PST |
Avalon Hills "Tactics II" |
| Forager | 21 Sep 2009 7:45 a.m. PST |
GDW's "Blue Max" using 1/144 scale miniatures is definitely at the top of my list. |
| richarDISNEY | 21 Sep 2009 7:52 a.m. PST |
Classic Deadlands. Or some version of Car Wars. Does Drinking games count???

Galaga – oh wait- you specified wargames/RPGs/Boardgames. In that case, RoboRally (1st edition). Whoops, and D&D. |
| The Beast Rampant | 21 Sep 2009 8:05 a.m. PST |
Probably 40K; 1st & 2nd ed, then when 3rd came out, and after one game of it, we played a 1st/2nd hybrid. I wish I'd discovered Galaga way back in the heyday of Heritage minis! |

Probably Panzer War, though Ship O' the Line would be a close second. Maybe WRG 6th after that. |
| leidang | 21 Sep 2009 8:08 a.m. PST |
Miniatures game – Fire & Fury RPG – D&D (Alot of hours piled up in high school) Boardgame – Axis & Allies The overall winner would probably be D&D since I remember playing solid for entire weekends. I've easily eclipsed that in overall miniature wargames time since but not with a single ruleset. |
| anleiher | 21 Sep 2009 8:12 a.m. PST |
Empire, both versions 3 & 5. Past History. Currently, IABSM. |
| Who asked this joker | 21 Sep 2009 8:15 a.m. PST |
Tractics Fire and Steel Dungeons and Dragons |
| Tom Reed | 21 Sep 2009 8:17 a.m. PST |
It would have to be either TSATF, Command Decision' or Johnny Reb. For RPGs it would be Champions. |
Dr Mathias | 21 Sep 2009 8:21 a.m. PST |
Gorkamorka, 40k. Oddly, I've painted far more historical figures than I have Warhammer figures
|
| Rich Bliss | 21 Sep 2009 8:25 a.m. PST |
Volley and Bayonet for miniatures, UpFront for 'board' games and Traveller for RPG |
| Ivan DBA | 21 Sep 2009 8:28 a.m. PST |
DBA. If the category were broad enough to include it, Settlers of Catan. |
| Karellian Knight | 21 Sep 2009 8:35 a.m. PST |
Miniature wargames – Command and Colors combat and movement system variously converted to suit different periods. Board games – Settlers of Catan. |
| Goldwyrm | 21 Sep 2009 8:38 a.m. PST |
That's easy. #1 AD&D #2 1st Edition 40K Rogue Trader #3 Traveller Both were the result of youth and free time. I play a lot more things now, but my average games played curve has nose dived as the variety of games curve has climbed. |

Chivalry and Sorcery Both RPG and Wargame |
| Hastati | 21 Sep 2009 8:46 a.m. PST |
Much to my shame (since it is a boardgame) I would have to say Avalon Hill's ASL. I played it once or twice a week for about 8 years. |
| Lucius | 21 Sep 2009 8:48 a.m. PST |
Although I haven't played in 30 years, the answer is still: D&D |
| jtkimmel | 21 Sep 2009 8:53 a.m. PST |
For boardgames, very easy, Advanced Squad Leader. It was the only thing I played for about 5 years before getting into miniatures. Played 2-3 times a month face-to-face and solitaire games in between. For miniatures, probably Fire & Fury, with Shako a close second. |
| The Tin Dictator | 21 Sep 2009 8:59 a.m. PST |
Squad Leader (SL before the "A") Johnny Reb II Since then its been a mix. |
| DS6151 | 21 Sep 2009 9:00 a.m. PST |
D&D and Battletech. It will take some time before I eclipse those two. |
| Florida Tory | 21 Sep 2009 9:07 a.m. PST |
Column, Line and Square Rick |
| wrgmr1 | 21 Sep 2009 9:07 a.m. PST |
In the last ten years, by total number of games played. 1. Armati 2. Shako 3. Battle for Empire 4. Fire and Fury |
| Fat Wally | 21 Sep 2009 9:16 a.m. PST |
My top five of the last eight years, all by TFL. 1) I Ain't Been Shot Mum – WW2(350+ games) 2) Le Feu Sacre – Napoleonics (100+ games) 3) Bag The Hun – WW2 aerial (50+ games) 4) Algy – WW1 aerial (40+ games) 5) Up Your Cara al Sol – Spanish Civil War (30+ games) My gaming group seems to only play TFL stuff now. |

In The Grand Manner, Crossfire, Space Hulk (what a game!) John |
| The Monstrous Jake | 21 Sep 2009 9:30 a.m. PST |
Hmmm, for historical miniatures, probably Shipbase III. For non-historical miniatures, MAATAC or possibly Generic Legions. For board wargames, probably Ogre. For RPGs, definitely AD&D first edition, followed by Traveller first edition. For computer wargames, most definitely iPanzer '44. Played well over a thousand games of that and still not bored with it. |
| Rommel Rocks | 21 Sep 2009 9:33 a.m. PST |
For board games I would say-Squad Leader For RPG- D and D hands down For Minis- Warhammer 40k, although FoW is catching up |
| Timbo W | 21 Sep 2009 9:37 a.m. PST |
Operation Warboard I should think, (long long ago in a galaxy far far away) |
Parzival | 21 Sep 2009 9:40 a.m. PST |
1. Risk (including variants): Current favorite 2. Chess (lifetime; don't play much at all anymore) 3. D&D (because of high-school and college years; not anymore ) 4. | Who asked this joker | 21 Sep 2009 9:40 a.m. PST |
For computer games it would be Sid Meier Gettysburg/Antietam. Probably the greatest wargame simulation around! |
| Kampfgruppe Cottrell | 21 Sep 2009 9:51 a.m. PST |
Battleground WWII (tabletop) Ground Control (video game) Brian |
| lkmjbc3 | 21 Sep 2009 9:52 a.m. PST |
Close call between.. Volley & Bayonet
and DBA
Lots of good times with each.. Joe Collins |
| Sundance | 21 Sep 2009 10:07 a.m. PST |
Advanced Squad Leader, followed by Richthofen's War and the Air Force/Dauntless |
| rusty musket | 21 Sep 2009 10:08 a.m. PST |
An old game called Warlords that is probably out of print. It was out of print when I learned it. It came back into print for a while and I have a copy but I don't see around anymore. It was a dark ages game with a little fantasy/magic in it. Quick to learn and play. Most fun I ever had in any games I played. |
Flashman14 | 21 Sep 2009 10:10 a.m. PST |
As a youngling, Johnny Reb 2, TSATF both FFL and FIW. And most recently our variant on Warhammer LOTOW and Alamo for Indian Mutiny: link |
| CorpCommander | 21 Sep 2009 10:13 a.m. PST |
Japanese Art of War. I wrote them so I ran them quite often. Next would be a mixed bag of ACW/WWII/Old West rules. Not sure really what comes in second. |
| TodCreasey | 21 Sep 2009 10:15 a.m. PST |
DBM hands down although Grande Armee comes close. Right now a fair amount of TW&T and Flames of War too. |
| Delthos | 21 Sep 2009 10:15 a.m. PST |
In order of most to least played, even though I'm not currently playing any of them except Warhammer Fantasy. 1. WH40K, 3rd and 4th Ed. 2. Mordheim 3. Warhammer Fantasy 4. Battlefleet Gothic 5. Chronopia 6. Star Wars Miniatures Battles 7. Numerous others played more than 5 times. As we used miniatures in D&D, you could probably put it right up there around number 1. It's really to hard to tell if it or WH40K were played more. |
| mweaver | 21 Sep 2009 10:16 a.m. PST |
D&D. Nothing else is remotely close. |
| Pijlie | 21 Sep 2009 10:18 a.m. PST |
Battletech. Then Necromunda. But WAB is getting closer. |
| jizbrand | 21 Sep 2009 10:32 a.m. PST |
The most common, over my lifetime, were/are: Traveller, The Sword and the Flame, and Star Grunt. |

1813c and Rally 'Round the Flag. |
| CeruLucifus | 21 Sep 2009 10:33 a.m. PST |
D&D in all its variants, including computer game spinoffs that have D&D-derived mechanics. |
| Elric Of Melnibone | 21 Sep 2009 10:36 a.m. PST |
1) Tunnells and Trolls 2) Runequest 3) Solo game books by Jackson / Livingston esq
and yep, still playing them 30 years later. |
| Gallowglass | 21 Sep 2009 10:56 a.m. PST |
D&D (and the various editions/ basic and advanced variants thereof) for sheer number of game hours logged, with Call of Cthulthu in second place. Don't really play RPGs any more, though. |
