I want to start collecting western desert forces in 28mm. Problem is theres only a few 8th army infantry from Artizan, although good, theres just not that many of them. Vehicle availability is a bit limited. Cant find an early skdfz250, crusader or early sherman with sand skirts. Does anyone know if bolt action, jtfm etc plan to produce a 25 pounder? I am getting a little seduced by flames of war images and am semi tempted to go 15mm but 28mm is where my heart is, unfortunatley. |

Chieftan Models once produced an early Sdkfz 250. Though they sold off their WWII stuff (with the kits going to various makers BEF Miniatures being one of them), you might still be able to find that kit. Battle Honors also make a line of 8th Army. Other than the BOYS AT rifle, Artizan's line should give you enough to do most weapons IIRC. I am pretty sure a Sherman with sand skirts in 1/56th and a Crusader are out there
I just can't think of who makes them right now. Someone else might remember. I could be wrong though. I believe JFTM produces early Shermans, so you could probably make your own sand skirts. |

Just to correct the record Chieftain's WW2 line was split between JTFM and Company B. Company B produces all the Italian models suitable for North Africa. In addition for North Africa we have in production the Lee/Grant, the Blitz Buggy, the C11 ADF staff car, the 3 LRDG vehicles as mentioned above, Stuart Honey, Marmon Herrington Mk II, the Crossley AC, Morris CW15, Morris Radio Shelter, Vickers MK VI, Stower R180 staff car, Panzer III and Panzer IV. JTFM has the Austin truck and other suitable German vehicles. |

I have 3 SdKfz.250 alte that would suit your needs they just haven't gone into moulds yet
We have a suitable Pz.II currently going into moulds and a Pz.III J/J1 which is available, Universal carrier, Austin K5, Morris CS9, Marmon Harrington MkI
. I have the M4 Sherman MkI that can be fitted with sandskirts, which we have, plus the Brit cruisers A12 and A13. As for the 25pdr, artillery is something I'm taking a serious look at

West Wind has a very nice 25lbr. I think the crew are wearing standard battledress though. I think I used extra crew from the mortar and mmg sets for them. Battle Honours also has a nice 25 lbr. I am not so fussy on their figures though. |

BAMeyer: Sorry about the mistake. I thought BEF got some of those kits. Hard to keep track of these days with masters flying all over the place. Didn't someone make a Crusader though? I could have sworn

Keith, no worries, I still get confused sometimes. The deal with Ian was that even though he sold the WW2 line he has the rights to continue to produce for BEF those models which are specific to his early war initiative. That made it a win win for everybody. I agree that the Crusader sounds familiar but I can't find it anywhere and suspect in the end it was someone's vaproware. |

BAMeyer: I agree, that is a win win for us all. I look forward to more of BEFs early war stuff. Especially the Belgians and more French. |

Thanks for the replies, filling me with optimism about sticking with 28mm and 1/56. How about supply of JTFM and Company B kit to the UK, is that on the deline or on the ascent? |

The news keeps getting better. Brigade Games – does your Morris 15cwt come with a canvas tilt? Also, does anyone do a sherman with a cast hull? (I'm quite confused by whos got what from the Chieftain line, not that that matters as much as whats actually now available.) |
| Jeff at JTFM Enterprises | 18 Sep 2009 5:35 a.m. PST |
I have most of the German gear from Chieftain plus a good pile of brit stuff. I'm doing the M4A1 which is the cast hull

I picked up 2 Battle Honors 25 Pounders for about $12.00 USD each with crew. I replaced the crew with other models but they work great for me. Hope that helps |

The Company B Morris CWt from Brigade comes with a canvas top for the cab and the frame if you want it off. For the rear, there is a full canvas bed that can have the rear flap open or closed. There are also about 6 different stowage loads that can fit the back. You can see all the different configurations on the fact sheet from our site: PDF link The two pounder porte and 6 pounder are in the works. Also look for some unique Aussie kit from the desert in the near future. Company B has almost all the models you would need for North Africa, for British, Americans, German or Italian from our own line as well as Chieftains. companyb.biz
Just tell Brigade what you want, and he can get the pieces together. |
