Minis from the various incarnations of WizKids' Clix games are cheap and ubiquitous, and can easily be converted for use with tabletop RPGs or other miniature games with just a simple base swap. This article shows you the straightforward technique with step-by-step photos. Follow the link for full details. link |

Clippers? Feh. Pop the whole thing in the freezer for an hour and a good pop against the counter might be enough. Clippers are for the tough ones. |

you don't even need to do that
.just ease a knife under the feet
.works with all of them, mage knight, heroclix, mechs
the same glue must be applied across the range and it's very brittle
.if you want a challenge, try getting dreamblade figures off clean
.they're integrally cast with the bases

Interesting to hear that it's even easier than I thought. I'll pass that along to the author, especially that freezer bit, which is pretty clever. Thanks for sharing, guys. |

Sometimes the glue they use holds so firm cutting the base apart works better. |

My technique for rebasing of my mechwarrior figs is listed here: link I use snips to break the bond underneath the connections with just a slight bit of pressure. No freezer was needed and 99% of the time, I got a clean break immediately |

Mechwarrior come off their bases fairly easily. The early clix from WK occasional had amazing strong glue bonds to hold figs with very slim feet. Occasionally cutting the disk around the feet then gluing the whole assembly to a base holds better than trying to reglue just the feet. Bryan, Lowes and home despot near me seem pricer than some of the other places of recent. Menards in will county has 1" fender at 70 for $2, 2" fender at 18 for $2 USD which seem notably better than home despot is asking. Thanks for the bases BTW! |

Yeah, Home Depot and Lowes make a nice buck or two on those washers. I found an on-line source earlier for 1/3rd the price. Even with shipping, it was substantially less. I'll send you another note when I have another batch of bases ready. I'm still fleshing out some of my forces. |
