Hi there,

Not sure if this is the good section, but here is a hint about "nice & efficient" basing for VnB napoleonics illustrated by 10mm minis. It's both a "hint" and a "gallery" showing how to build nice looking, easy to deploy and manage, and especially reusable bases/labels for VnB.

No more needs for markers, army lists or so…
No more need to spend time printing and throwing away paper labels once the game is done.

It's an easy hint, so I do not know if someone ever think to it but I never see it pictured before. In case, let me know so I share credits. Also, I think this basic system could be reused in any rules using paper and/or markers :

Here is a sample picture :

and here is the full explanation on my blog :

Let me know what you think of it,

Cheers,

Bruno.

I normally hate labels, but these are attractive and appear functional. Would like to see pics of them "in action" during a game, to see how distracting the labels might be.

I don't mind a discrete label. Those look nice. I'm working on something similar for Grande Armee and my ACW variant thereof.

Nice idea using the dry-erase markers!

Great minds, same gutters.

Here is my variation, also in 10mm

Very nice. But I always thought you could base all the appropriate info for V&B on the base. The unit identified by a flag. The initial strenght points by the number of figs. Add on a little cannon if it has brigade guns (or was that another game?). Throw on dead guys to show loss of strength points.

Anyways, nice clear presentation.

I'm am kinda of interested of an ACW version of Grande Armee, any news of when it might be done?

Bien cuit ils sont magnifiques.

I have to confess that I simply number each base and use a roster sheet and casualty figures. But these are good, very good.

Hi all,

Thanks for comments.
I really hope this "trick" will be usefull. On my side I feel the look and usability are nice. I will try to share pictures of an on-going game to illustrate that soon.

(but with just received Victrix minis, … well… time relativity should hold the key … ;-) )

Cheers,

Bruno.

This has always been tha bane for VnB. No system for providing the unit info is dirt simple to implement. Rosters are clunky in large games. Creating Unit labels can be a lot of work and may need to be changed multiple times for different games. I really like VnB and have played it since the 90's. But I have never seen a really simple and flexible solution.

Thanks,

John
