Just finished watching it, in Russian. To be honest, I read the book when I was in 5th grade and don't remember it, so don't know if movie was faithful to the book. Movie sucks. Very good casting and fairly accurate costumes/armor for the 16th century. Battle Scenes are crap. Dying cossacks giving patriotic speeches about Russia and Orthodox church that doesn't make sense in the context of the story. Definitely not worth buying. Rent it if you are curious. |

The actors "riding" some static mechanical contraption really doesn't cut it in this day and age. It's a political, nationalist film, before all. Using Cossacks in this manner is very much out of context! Allen |

Doesn't surprise me. I don't know if you saw "9th detachment". It was supposed to be Black Hawk Down for Russia in Afghanistan. It was craaaaaaaaaaaap! |

Yes, saw "9th company" also. It wasn't as bad as Taras Bulba, but was bad. |
