NUTS! the World War II small action combat rules will be released later this month.
NUTS! covers Europe 44 and includes 16 squad organizations for the big four combatants (Americans, British, German, and Russian) plus stats for over 100 vehicles.
As a player you can command between a squad to a platoon or more. Easily.
Look for more info to be announced on TMP.

*raises hand* New edition right? Also, will previous edition owners get an errata or discount or something?

Thanks,

John

Have I not downloaded that game a few years ago?

Thanks,

CmdrKiley02 Sep 2009 6:12 a.m. PST

Will there be a Wierd War II spinoff of it?

Caesar02 Sep 2009 6:43 a.m. PST

And I just bought the old edition. Ed and I were supose to play at Historicon, but we just could not hook up. Schedules and a plane arrival conflicts. :-)

How much has changed from the first edition Ed?

Here goes.

1- Yes, its a second edition.

2 – If you bought NUTS from me recently just contact me and you'll receive full credit towards the new one.

3 – WWW2 expansion. HOE right? Am redoing that one and will pop it out as a freebie add on. There's a big WWW2 supplement coming out soon that will be compatible with NUTS! 2. Weird science, super powers, mechs, the author (not me) is really doing it up right.

4 – The reason behind a second edition is that the CR 3.0 mechanics are so different and smoother, campaign and scenario generation is better than the older books that some titles needed to be upgraded and added to for consistency. But this would only happen if there was enough new stuff to warrant it and now there is. FYI – Black Powder Battles and Red Sand Blue Sky are the last two titles that will get an update.

Looking forward to it!!!

Questions about Nuts:

For a newcomer who has never played with Nuts before what exactly is Nuts and what scale should nuts be played with ?

It is a one figure represents one man skirmish rules. You can play in any scale, adjusting the distances if you so desire. You command a squad but after a few games you should be able to run a platoon with ease.

What was wrong with the old set of Nuts ?
Nothing. It's a great game as it is.

What is special about the new set of Nuts ?
With the upgrade to CR 3.0 mechanics it's better than the older book and needed to be upgraded and added to for consistency. But this would only happen if there was enough new stuff to warrant it and now there is.

What overall improvements have been made to the new set of Nuts?
Too many to mention. If you've never played the old NUTS! you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. If you've played before you'll see smoother mechanics and better AI.

Have the new set of Nuts grown in size or is it smaller than the old set of Nuts?
About twice the size. But bigger in size doesn't guarantee better in rule books, but it does in this case.

Has play with the new set of nuts become easier to grasp ?
As it is not out that can't be answered. However, as it uses the CR 3.0 system it will be. There are few, if any questions about the CR 3.0 rules. Plus I've learned how to write clearer. ;)

Is the new set of Nuts cleaner somehow?
Yep, laid out like the newer sets with TOC and index.

What new and innovative features are special about the new set of Nuts which make them stand out over other competing want to be sets of Nuts?
NUTS!, like all THW games are designed with the solo and same side gamer in mind. Now other rules will say that you can play them solo but it requires much more work than its worth. In NUTS! all the work is done for you. Even to the point of how NPC forces move based on what they are. Example – A tank with infantry support (within 8") will behave differently than the tank by itself. There's no "do what you think is best for the enemy" when it comes to playing solo or same side. It's all in there for you.

How much will the new set of Nuts cost ?
Between $20 USD and $25 USD depending upon final page count. PDFs will be included when you purchase a hard copy. Hope this helps.

I purchased the old version less than a month ago. Hope I qualify for the free upgrade!

Though I'm only halfway through the old NUTS rulebook, but I already like what I see.

Looking very much forward to the new version!

If you absolutely want a head start and if you wan to see if you like the game mechanics without having to buy NUTS 2 take a look at Chain Reaction 3.0*

link

I recommend it anyway to get a head start on the rules in a less detailed form. And it's free.

* BTW – These are a REAL set of rules, not some tiny little teaser. If you play CR 3.0 and like it you'll like NUTS. If not, you'll save a few bucks.
