You know, the kind for rivers and lakes and such?

I also have a few ships from UNCHARTED SEAS that are top heavy and keep tipping over (frigates). I'd like to use a little light blue acetate around their bases to add some stability, maybe paint a little wake trail on it, too.

Any suggestions? It's not in the STAPLES or OFFICE DEPOT catalogs, I just looked.

Age of Glory and Litko both sell light blue bases made of (I think) acrylic.

I would look in a drafting supply store or an independent art supply store (although a Hobby Lobby or Michael's might be able to help you).

You could also buy some clear resin and dye it blue:

It would be very easy to make a simple mold box and then pour the clear resin directly around your ships. It really shouldn't matter if you get a few bubbles trapped in it, as that might actually look okay for the usage you described.

Google "Midwest Products", they manufacturer it.

As a cheaper alternative, you can pick up the acrylic "water glass" used in overhead florescent light fixtures. Paint it with Tamiya's clear blue and then you can use clear tub caulk to adhere the model and sculpt wake/bow waves.
