I finally tackled a project to make a Ned Kelly outlaw figure in his archetypal armor so I could use him in some skirmish gaming. I've no great skill at this, but no one else seems to have a suitable commercial figure, so here's the final result. A bit of a pumpkinhead, but it will do, I think. reminds me of a Sidney Nolan painting!

I just went with a solid top helmet, it is beyond my skill to model the correct open top. Basically, I found a Wild West figure in trail duster with a rifle and pistol, then used green stuff to smooth over the shirt to a chest plate; the head & hat was cut/filed down and green stuff was formed into a helmet shape around it. I don't have any sculpting tools or experience, so this is very crudely done, but good enough for my satisfaction.

Looks great; and you probably have been personally rewarded for a task tackled and accomplished.

Very nice. Dark and a certain air of mysterious danger.

I'm going to forward that to our local Supermarket for id.
I think that's the bloke that puts the prices on the meat.

Well…anyway…that's what he should wear. grin

That'll do just nicely- actually you have captured the 'home made' feel of Neds armour. I have the DVD and it looks a ringer.

Its a disenfranchised Irishman with a bucket on his head!

…it MUST be Ned Kelly!

Actually, I've been pondering a Warhammer: Old West suppliment for Aussie Bushrangers. Most unofficial, mind.

Nice work!

Very nice indeed.

For people with less sculpting ability, Cannon Fodder used to make an armoured Ned Kelly, but unfortunately it seems to be OOP at the moment.

Maybe this fine company could be persuaded to bring it back?
