Last night, I finished the tender of the Polish armoured train I'm building, and since this morning the weather was fine I put out a test track and ran the engine/tender commbination. I'm happy to say that it ran fine, after one minor adjustment, and really looked the part. During the building I had been worried about the looks in bends, but now I feel that the extra armour I put in between cab and tender looks good. In particular the tender roof extending over the cab roof for extra protection of the crew, prototypical but out of necesssity a bit overdone, ties it together pretty good. The story of nearly 6 weeks of building can be found here: link Pics and some lousy vids made with my photo camera can be found at the (current) end of that thread. Your comments, tips, etc. will be more than welcome! |

Marvlous Gerrit!!! Just yesterday i had been wondering how your project had fared so far! I think one day I should really try to do the same thing with a German armoured train. Hope someone takes LGB over after their brancrpcy so I can still get an engine and whels for ti
but if push comes to shove I could still canabalise some of the Playmobil stuff I have lying around! Very cool!!! Burkhard |

New LGB stock is arriving in the shops now Märklin took over. No idea if spare parts are all in stock again. This engine block I found years ago brand new at a fleamarket, for only €35.00 EUR or so. |

You now that Märklin is under bancrupcy protection right now? I will keep my fingers crossed there will be new LGB stuff in the future
my I really need to put my trains out again
it must have been mothballed for 8 or 9 years now! But hey
this weekend is supposed to bring fine weather, is it not! Cheers, Burkhard |

Yes, I know, but they are producing even new models/versions, so there is hope. For axles and wheels you are much better off with Playmobil, if you don't mind plastic, and Hartland does a few interesting engine blocks. |
