so, As I sit here transistioning from priming wooden beams for the back forch roof to sanding windows in the library to prime, I am thinking how good it would be to have Sci-Fi vehicles in this scale to go with my arcraft and (eventually) 1/600th modern AFV's. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of 1/300th Sci-Fi vehicles that I like (but I will be unfortunately reducing those to make room for the 1/600th Moderns) but it would be easier if I was able to make my large scale forces (as opposed to my small scale 25/28mm figures for Zorro and westerns) all one size! But, I don't know if anyone makes Sci-Fi in 1/600th scale!?? Thoughts? Gracias, Glenn |

I too wouldn't mind some good sci-fi in 1/600. though mind you, I've just gotten a ton in 1/300

why stop at 1/600? Why not go all the way down to 2mm so you can use Germy's fabulous 2mm sci fi stuff? TMP link |

Germy's stuff will work fine at 3mm, for the most part. What I'm confused about is how this will save any space. The storage needs of 2mm or 3mm vs 6mm are not all that different. |

It doesn't necessarily save space, but does permit longer scale weapons ranges, and four times the maneuvering room on the tabletop. |

On the 3mm Yahoo! group, someone mentioned they were thinking about casting 3mm sci-fi. Other than that, Germy and Irregular are about the only ones currently in production that I am aware of. You can always use modern AFVs for sci-fi tanks, etc. link |

I have X amount of space which is at 110% currently (my wife's numbers but unfortunately too true) so something has to go before something comes in. Gracias, Glenn |

I am not a fan of the irregular SF vehicles though I have some and use them. IMHO the best solution currently is to use Germys stuff. I dont see much difference between 2 and 3mm. At these scales it is also really easy to kitbash or create your own. I find creating your own is easier for tanks and afvs but Odzial Osmy's trucks, artillery, and such work fine. Some of Brigade's Land Ironclads also kitbash easily or can be used as is. Like many of us I have a lot of 1/285-300 scale SF but 2mm is drawing me in. There are also a lot of bits in the 6mm sizes which work well as 2mm hardware. Al |

Given the limited range of vehicles available, I would either scale down the project to smaller battles, use folding tables for larger ones, or play mega battles on the carpet. |

I guess I find myself liking the miniatures more than the tactics
1/600 seems a bit like eating one french fry
unless there are big monsters on the table
not saying I want to reduce your gaming pleasure to stompy monsters but the scale would make more sense for me at least
I can grasp the realistic ranges issues but so tiny

Yes, Germy's 2mm Syfy stuff available from Brigade is very nice !!! |

It is the quality of OO's 3 mm stuff that is drawing attention to the idea of 'realistic' 3 mm SF. If he'd make enough vehicles and some infantry for a not-HS universe I'd be there in a NY minute. Dan |

Wow, checked out the OO stuff after seeing it mentioned here. Not I'm hankering for some 1/600! Thanks a lot guys
Bad enough I'm doing 1/300 individually mounted skirmish :-p |

You could use a lot of 6mm stuff for 3mm / 2mm
Old Crow's 6mm scenery springs to mind. But at this scale you may as well kitbash. Currently wondering whether to get into 15mm, 6mm or 3mm gaming
may have to move overseas next year so space is REALLY tight. I wonder how Ambush Alley in 2mm would be

I've scratch built some 1:900, but would easily pass for 1:600, sci-fi vehicles from evil empire sprue and other junk from my spares box as an exercise in building a army as close to nothing as possible (the pins used to hold the grav vehicles cost about GB£1 I think). picture The futuristic version of Risk is providing mechs and the old silent death plastic fighters are providing gunships and fighters, both of which would survive being in the company of 1:600. I'm also planning a neo-soviet force based on normal modern stuff, because at that scale its not really going to matter, with added mechs and space fighters. Also looking at the OO stuff it would probably be just about feasible to do some minor conversions like turret swaps. As for 2mm/3mm being a space saver yes, but only if you don't start to collect brigade sized combat formations, I've got approximately 3 batt. of grav APC's and 1/2 batt. of grav MICV, 1 Mecha batt. and still growing but with no infantry as yet – however so far it still all fits in an mobile phone box! My ultimate intention is to use the same infantry across my forces sci-fi, WWII & modern – again at that scale beyond a very rough uniform colour scheme there is little to distinguish. |

Actually we are working on some 1:600 scifi forces at the moment. One high tech [grav,lasers/ plasma weapons, power armour infantry] and one low tech [huge native animals as mobile platforms for weapons] More info with pictures soon
