Why do Adler's have such big heads? |
| Theword | 12 Aug 2009 5:25 a.m. PST |
They may not be perfectly proportioned.. but.. they are 6mm representations of real people so I think we can let it go this time. I personally wouldn't buy anything but Adler at this point in time, just wish they did more periods. David, very nice, can't wait to see them based. TW. |

Adler figures were modelled after "The Mighty Mekon" – the nemesis of Dan Dare en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mekon Nice job David. I do like Adler Naps. But they are a pain to base. |

When I was working in 6 mm, years ago I did my Naps with Heroics & Ros because of the good prepositions. That was one thing that put me off Adler and Baccus were the big heads. I know Heroics & Ros run a bit smaller but they down have heads like "Timmy on South Park." link |

I really don't get the heads comments. So what? The top half is what you see around the battlefield anyhow. I'd rather have out of proportion well cast minis that deserve a good paintjob than skinny in proportion figs that I cant paint well. Horses for courses I guess. "I'd rather have out of proportion well cast minis that deserve a good paint job than skinny in proportion figs that I cant paint well." So David you would have no problem having lets say 20 mm figures with 25 mm heads? Or and Army of 25 mm figures with 28 mm or 30 mm heads. Because that's what they look like. They (Adler and Baccus) are great looking figures, but they are drastically out of proportioned (heads) figures. Robert Henry P.S. TIMMY!!! link |

The big head accusation pops up continually. Have a look at Steve Jones's bases paintingshed.blogspot.com and judge if these seem to have cartoonish big heads. I'm using his pics cos they have great close-ups. My own painting on the Baccus site isn't good enough for me to subject it to this scrutiny. I think the big heads things is overplayed by people who don't like the Baccus style. Personally, it really doesn't worry me. Enough people are happy with the proportions to keep us going, so not everyone thinks that they look characters from South Park. Now if my figures looked like Cartman then I'd worry

Yeah the big head claim is cop out! Why I don't know. And no I would not like 25mm with big heads because in 25mm there is enough opportunity to get it in correct proportion and to see the detail on the board. Especially if you only have 40 guys running around. Try looking at those figures from 20m away and have 5000 of them on the table and see if some extra attention to head area would make things easier. Not big deal though. No argument. I dont care about the heads and you do. I use them every day and you don't. Not even grounds for a discussion anyhow. Not that I partake in one because I JUST DONT CARE. So, do you get the idea I really don't care? he he Anyway. Thanks for the comments. => Colbert, the eagles were on the minis the client sent me to paint so I had no choice. => TheWord, I wish they did more periods as well but then it gives me the excuse to start purchasing Baccus as well then which I look forward to do when I get into SYW.
