These guys are my second attempt at painting 15mm. They are fantastic models and i have no where near done them justice. Hoping my skills will improve as i continue to paint, paint, paint. picture There are a couple of more pics on my blog. Things i have learnt from painting these guys are; 1. The eyes will never be more than black slits unless i come up with some other approach. 2. I'll use a bit more flesh wash when doing faces, hands and skin. 3. I'm not sure 28mm painting skills transfer straight over. Or maybe i just need to practice some more with high-lighting and shading. :) Any tips and suggestions from some of you gun painters of 15mm would be much appreciated. :) link |

Hi Really like what you've done with these Ravagers. In the closeup pics you can see that the faces look very naturalistic. 28mm painting skills don't fully translate into 15mm. Colours need to be lighter, shadows darker. The subtle folds and contours on many 15mm are best brought out with washes or drybrushing as opposed to block painting. I prefer dark slits for eyes in 15mm otherwsie they can be too scary link To define the detail on the face I use a Chestnut Brown ink wash and then apply highlights. From experience, I've found that it's best to keep the wash to the parts you want to highlight otherwise the flesh colour can darken into a George Hamilton tan! picture Cheers Mark |

Excellent work. Maybe a little red ink splatter on the hands, face or chest. Maybe around the mouth. My 2 cents |

Thanks for those comments guys. I think i do see the need for more use of inks or washes for 15mm, and perhaps more of the semi-drybrush while going a bit lighter. Ahh! George Hamilton! @mrwigglesworth I probably should have added, ill be using these guys as Post-Apocalyptic scavangers. But hell, i liked painting these guys so much i may do the classic bloodied Ravager from Serentity/Firefly. These minis have appeal for lots of genres. |

I had not thought of using these as anything other than Reavers. Thanks for showing that these could be used in other roles. Awesome paint job and concept! |

I like them, black slits for eyes are fine given their size. Washes do help quite a bit, but a little goes a long way. Your leather color (mechrite red, bestial brown and black) looks very nice too, I plan on using it. |

Thanks again guys. I really should be putting some time into terrain for my dc2150 project. But i'm so keen to try my brush at 15's again, i might just try the other 8 Ravagers i've got latter this week. |

Look good. I can't even begin to paint 28mm eyes. Couldn't imagine painting eyes on 15mm minis. |
