At michael's Craft Stores called the Spooky Town Express, could be used for 28mm. You'd have to modify it quite a bit but it would make a nice addition to a pulp or western game. link $60.00, I think buit during the after the holiday
who knows. |

That is roughly double what I paid for a much better train (with shipping included), that requires much less effort to make it game worthy. What you really want is a set made by either Goldlok or Fast Lane. They have a series of train sets that are "Express" such as Continental Express or Western Express. Stay away from the Christmas Express. Like this one: auction Found it by simply entering "western express train" and then scrolling down thru the various entries. Sometimes you can try to use fast lane or goldlok, but if you don't get a hit on that specific brand, go with something a little more generic. Also, some folks do sell these sets for a lot more, so if you are not in any rush, you will eventually find one on sale for about $20 USD or so, and figure another $10 USD for shipping. Good hunting. |

I think it is Goldilok, not Goldlock, Seattle, otherwise you are right. Dandy for 28mm, easy to paint, inexpensive. I got one for $5 USD at a local import toy house, so no shipping. |

These trains show up at Toys are Us every christmas, at least. Chick always finds the best deals, but do not pay more than $10. USD picture Here is a picture of conversion for 1960's Congo picture |

I have two Goldlok sets, Western Express and Classic Express, which is a bigger 4-6-2. |

That is a lot more reasonable for a static terrain piece than what I saw for O guage trains. |

I found a western style toy train after Christmas that was marked down to five bucks. Unless you need a train NOW, I would wait a few months and see what you can pick up cheap. |

These trains are awesome and easy to convert. As stated above, wait until Christmas and you'll find 'em. If you're willing to risk not getting one, wait until after Christmas and you'll probably find 'em for about $5. USD By the way, I'm reasonably sure these trains are all made by the same company in China. They just slap different packaging on them. I've seen them at Toys-R-Us, General Dollar, and Walgreens. |
