Just posted an update on my blog that includes photos of our esteemed Inkbiz's 1/200 Naps and some of his ACW minis that he's been sculpting. They are cast by Tom Dye and GFI. I'll be putting a wash on them tonight to show more detail and getting those pics up soon. Until then, whet your appetite with these!

Oh great, just what the hobby needs, another new scale!

I figure a 6 foot man is about 9 and change mm in 1/200. So are you introducing a new "scale" or will these be "10MM"?

Rob.

Bob (Inkbiz) has gone off of scale, so they are 9mm. They are proportionate at 1/200 and would fit in with 10mm I would say.

Hip Hip…….WAAAH!

Bob Rules, O.K.!

I'm still holding out for these as my Mass 'Warmaster' nap scale below Anthony Barton's and Warmodelling and Eureka at 18mm!

Cheers,
GH

What footprint has Bob got on these? Looks less than 2mm x 2mm

Hey Forest, glad you got to see 'em finally. :)

They're about 3mmx3mm square at the base, just under 9mm tall. There's still some tweaking to do on those bayonets (grrr!!), but Tom has been a tremendous help in getting them just so.

Very glad to have your input, Forest, it is much appreciated.

Anytime Bob! Once I finish up with this hellish quarter I'll get to actually painting them? Didn't you prefer enamels? Are are acrylics still fine?

So they're finally out?

Are these figures out then? Any word on the 1/500 figures?

Hi Mike,

Well..almost ready. I took a hiatus from the 1:500 Naps to get these ACW fellows done, but I also managed to pick up a lot of neat tricks and experience that I am hopeful will allow the 1:500's to cast properly. Biggest issue is, and has been, getting those little bayonets and muskets to cast. It's a constant struggle between aesthetic and practicality, basically. I want the figure and equipment to be as close to scale/proportion as possible, but a 1:500 (and even a 1:200) bayonet is thinner than a human hair so it has to be bulked up. And the process of 'greenie' to 'master' to 'production' makes it thinner and thinner each generation. Not much wiggle room there.. Basically I've spent the last year or so going back and forth casting prototypes, under Tom Dye's expert and kind guidance, in order to find out just where that 'magic' size is. Thick enough to cast, thin enough to not look like the little fellows aren't carrying tree-trunks into battle.

I expect to have complete masters of the latest (hopefully FINAL)versions within 2-3 weeks, and I'd be happy to post some pics.

Thank You,
Bob

I'm already painting Napoleonics in 10mm, 15mm and 25mm because I can't decide which scale I like best. Why do I get the bad feeling that I'll shortly be painting 1:500 as well?
