I'm considering picking up a box of the Perry Brothers' plastic English Line Napoleonic figures, with the intent of re-arming them with some sci-fi weaponry and fielding them as the sort of 'stuffy' troops that show up in military sci-fi occasionally. You know the type- their uniforms are always impeccable, their weapons polished, they look perpetually ready to march out onto the parade ground, they (usually) fight half as well as anyone else (but, not always), have a prissy gloryhound for their CO, etc. So, I'm curious- anyone who owns the figures have any opinion on how suitable they'd be for mass re-arming? Are their any particular pitfalls to these particular figures I should look out for? Any special glue requirements (i.e., is the plastic normal model plastic, or a so-called 'engineering' plastic?)? Anything else I should know before plunking down my filthy lucre? Thanks in advance! Monk |

For going conversion-heavy, you might want to consider the Victrix plastic Napoleonics, to my understanding they come in more parts, so should give you easier conversion opportunities. |

I believe the Perry plastics are very similar to the Victrix plastics in terms of size, which means that if you're going to put them next to 40K models they are going to look very small indeed. This actually gives a reasonable size for humans next to the Space Marine plastics (never understood why the plastic Cadians were as tall as marines) but you could not replace the weapons with IG weapons, they would be far too bulky. |

All Sci-Fi weapons are too bulky! Too big to carry, let alone shoot is the usual rule – but there are lots of weapons sprues out there I think, IMHO, this is a great idea |

I disagree that all sci-fi weapons are too bulky- I'm particularly considering te last four here (#9-#12): link As well as some of the Heresy and Pig Iron weapon packs for squad support weapons, sidearms, etc. Thanks for all the input, though- sounds like the Perry figures (which I actually like a bit more than the Victrix) should work, at least well enough to chance a box of'em. - Monk |

I have been considering doing the same thing for my Imperial Guard. For fun & I do not care if I cannot play with them in Tournaments :) I was going to keep the models as are and place them on round bases so I can also use them for Sharp Practice by Two Fat Lardies :) |
