What figures can anyone recommend for 10mm British to be used in a scenario in which the British became allies of the CSA? What about French? I use GHQ for my ACW figures.

For the French you could use Franco-Prussian war figs, I know Chariot used to make some. You may also check out Pendraken, Not sure on them. As for the Brits not so sure.

Could you use Crimean British for your expeditionary forces?

The British implemented a new shako in 1861.

They would probably look like this:

However, at 10mm, I'd probably just pick up some Union troops and paint them with British colors.
