Or is it Raiders and Blockaders?
I saw there was a game of it at H-Con and noticed some info at a booth in the dealer hall, but didn't get back a chance to get back to it.

Anyone here play the game?
Thanks
Joe

I played in one of the H'con games. Very comparable to Yaquinto's ironclads or SMOKE ON THE WATER or etc. Mainly you track every shot: roll to hit, roll for damage, etc. On the realism versus playability scale, it's way over towards realism. Fine for small engagements but not really practicable for a fleet action like Mobile bay, in my opinion.

I bought them but as Doc noted the granularity is very fine (too fine for me).

Thanks for the info;
I was hoping they would be better for large engagements with less of a need to track shots and hits, etc, than the various rules that I already have.

BTW: Doc mcb…how did you like the 1/200 scale craft.
I have 1/600 scale ships, but if I was going to do the large engagements and also have shore batteries, i think 1/1200 would be the way to go.
Good gaming;
Joep

Hi Joep:

I sell the Navwar 1/1200 and had a few fleets painted up. They are really nice models and perfectly suited to bigger engagements. You can field a couple dozen on a medium size table easily.

I've seen the 1/600 and they are lovely models but doing a bigger scenario starts to require an awful lot of table space.

Thanks for the feedback Mark;
BTW; Were you at H-Con?
I don't recall seeing you, but you usually are at the HMGS East Cons.
I'll check out your site for the NavWar ships.

I confess to preferring the 1:600 models. Large enough to enjoy the look and the heft of them. The fact is, the scenario we did (Mobile) is very focused; the map was huge but all the action took place in a very limited area. I would have rather had the larger scale ships, in a scaled up focused playing area.

Hi Joep:

I don't attend the HMGS E cons as a vendor any more – I tried it for a few years but I was losing too much money. At least now I get to play!

Hi Mark;
That's sound thinking on your part.
