It has been recently launched a new initiative that I guess could be useful to Spanish Civil War gamers: a large collection of two-sided paper flags covering both sides. Collection includes civil and institutional flags, as well as military ordnance flags, and battleflags of a number of militiae of both sides. Such initiative was born within the Yahoo group Spanish Civil War 20mm (SCW20), link , which is formed by 20mm SCW players and is somehow related to HPC-Bandera products. However, as the initiative has been growing up, I've thought that it should be better to make it available not only to a single group, but to the entire SCW wargaming community instead, including players of this period in other scales. It has been specially taken into account the relatively fast development of Spanish Civil War gaming in Spain in latest times, after the release of a Flames of War SCW variant in that country: España en Llamas, or Spain in Flames (SiF) -which is mostly played at 1/100th scale, 15mm. So that, as a high proportion of SCW hobbyists are using 15mm for their games, the initial flags collection has been expanded to include up to 3 different sizes for each flagsheet. There will be not less than 14 different sets (7 of each side), and each one consists of a 2-paged PDF file containing a full set of flags in 3 different sizes. The sets already published up to-date are: - Republic's Regulation flags - Catalan & Valencian militiae - Republic's military Ordnance flags - Nationalists' State Regulation flags - Carlist Militia Due for August: CNT-FAI & POUM militiae, and Falangists. This collection can be found primarily into the SCW20 Yahoo Group files section (BTW, a highly recommended list for those interested in 20mm SCW gaming!), but also at a special page in the website I'm the webmaster of: wargames.cat/Dwnload/Vex , homepage wargames.cat . At any of both sites you'll be able to download the sheets entirely for free. Best wishes, Lluís |

Thanks, guys. The basic idea is providing a flags collection suitable either for being printed and used with your minis, or as a complete Library and inspiration for your own painted designs. BTW, all those having info on particular SCW flags they'd like to be reflected in this collection, please contact me at webmestre [at] wargames [dot] cat. Cheers, Lluís |

Server in trouble: Our ISP has engaged a series of upgrades in their servers, so that when you are accessing our website wargames.cat you will not be able to see the new SCW flags page I put online yesterday. I guess you are probably accessing to an old copy of our website (for I am actually able to enter into it via FTP and see all of its new contents). Unfortunately, today I'm starting holidays, so that I won't be able to check if the ISP servers upgrading process is going OK or not, until I'm back on August 2nd. Please keep trying, for I believe that sooner or later you will be granted access to my flags. Sorry for the inconveniences. |

Server troubles solved All of the Spanish Civil War sheets above are fully available again. Besides, I have added a new flagsheet to the collection: Spanish Falange. Apologies for the inconveniences produced these last two weeks. |

Gracias/Gràcies, Lluís. BTW this book on SCW/GCE flags is excellent and might give you some further ideas: link Guinea Hobbies are also a pleasure to do business with. All the books I've ordered from them have arrived here in Britain within 5 days. Cheers |

Hi Durruti, thanks for your suggestion. I was already aware of this book and trying to acquire it (it seems to be out of print and it starts to be hard to find). I am currently essaying to purchase it from another online bookshop, if they fail to find it I'll try with Guinea Hobbies (great chaps, their shop is always worth a visit if visiting Basque Country, it's located close to Bilbao). BTW, I've added some flagsheets else, so that currently there are 9 of them available: # REP1 – Spanish Republic official flags # REP2 – Catalan & Valencian militiae # REP3 – CNT-FAI & POUM militiae # REP4 – People's Army Ordnance flags # REP7 – International Brigades 1 # NAT1 – Nationalist Spain's official flags # NAT2 – Carlist militia # NAT3 – Falangist militia # NAT4 – Nationalist Army Ordnance flags I am currently working on two flagsheets else, which are expected to be finished during September: REP5 – 'Euzko Gudarostea' or Basque Army, and NAT5 – Protectorate of Morocco. |
