I'm planning to run a scenario based in Tunisia, late '42 – early '43. Can anyone point me to some good pictures of what the terrain there looked like? Or even to some photos of well-done gaming terrain for that area? About all I know is: hilly-to-mountainous, dry but not desert, some orchards and a few grain fields. Not sure about the architecture, either: southern European style? Arab style? mix of both?

Hrm… I've heard that Tunisia is very much like southern Idaho, so try: link
(that's actually an unusual area for southern Idaho, but it's particularly pretty and good for ideas)

A lot of the Tatooine scenes in the Star Wars movies were filmed in Tunisia, might want to check those :)

After the Battle magazine just ran an article on El Guettar that includes several modern color comparison shots. Its in the latest issue.

One of my fellow online-games players/GMs just sent me several links, including this: YouTube link

Looks a lot like the terrain around here (inland So. Cal.)!

Here is a tip:At the shopping mall there are usually travel agents, just approach the brochure stand and pick up some Tunisian and perhaps Algiers and Egipt brochures, these have sometimes good landscapes and architecture to inspire you!

Brownbear, thanks for the link to the Tunisia game! I saw pics of it back in Nov (was it?), but had forgotten. I wasn't thinking of doing a scenario back then. Really outstanding terrain in that game!

Unfortunately, I don't have the stuff available to do anything nearly that nice. Nor the know-how.

This will be a scenario for an on-line mini-campaign. I'll post an AAR when it's done.

alcal50: Yes I saw the Crete game pics recently. More outstanding terrain! I'd love to see a tutorial on how it's done.
