As the title suggests
how should I paint WW2 Japanese trucks and artillery? Green? Camouflaged? I vaguely remember a reference about overall brown colour, but I am not sure? Thank you in advance. |

The base colour of Japanese equipment is commonly known as 'Japanese Artillery Brown' and is a pale, drab brown (some sources say sand, but there really isn't any yellow hue). Camouflage was added with patches of green and brown, with occasional thin lines of yellow (a common application for the yellow was to paint a, thin, straggly line up & over the centre of each side of the vehicle, so that the lines met and formed a cross on the top of the vehicle). However, in the Pacific, jungle green was often used as the base colour and later in the war, the yellow component was done away with altogether. |

I would go with Artillery brown for trucks, staff cars, and guns. After 42' the main colour switches to Parched Grass but it is highly unlikely they repainted very many trucks, cars, and guns already in the field! I use Foundry Peaty Brown A, B, C, for Japanese Artillery Brown – also for helmets and canteens as well. |
