I use the old GW Dark Green and Purple inks for painting various of my Infinity miniatures. Annoyingly, I've run out of purple. Does anyone make a similar ink? I actually need the semi-gloss finish, so the (otherwise excellent) new GW washes are no use. I'd like to stay away from Windsor & Newton if possible; I've got a bottle of their blue ink, and it's not colour-fast; it has a nasty habit of bleeding through into whatever I put on top of it. |

I use "Game ink" which is made by Vallejo and sold by various retailers. It is the same stuff GW sell. |

Coat d'Arms probably do one. |

The Vallejo stuff looks promising. Anyone sell it online in the UK? I get my paints from my LGS, but they don't stock the inks, and attempting to special-order an item is usually a fruitless task. |

You could try the war store I thought I bought mine from thehobbybox.biz but I can't find it on their site. |

Try Maelstrom Games for Vallejo paints. I get all mine there and they do free postage
Very fast shipping too, I usual get stuff in Ireland 4 days after I have ordered online. |

Coats d'Arms is a perfect match for the old GW inks. I bought mine from scale creep along with all the flesh colors. Great paint. |

I tried the new GW washes, bought 3 bottles and I DO NOT like them. so I went on a mission to find inks I ran out of. Discovered the Vallejo and it worked great so I would recommend them also. |

Might try and poke the LGS into getting them. I looked at Maelstrom Games, but ordering one bottle of paint off the internet is ridiculous, and the only other things I'd want are the new LotR releases, which are cheaper from GW! |

I tried the new GW washes, bought 3 bottles and I DO NOT like them. I do, but I'm not using them like inks. Between the Vallejo Game Color inks and the inks in the P3 line, the GW inks should be easy to replace. |

I use the Game Color inks by Vallejo which we have. I also use Renissance Inks which are available directly from them on the web or at Historicon. |

I have met those who do, however as you said it; I do, but I'm not using them like inks.
have to wonder why did they cancel the Inks and go to washes if they did not intend for us to use the washes as inks? Washes have a higher surface tension then inks. I like the property of inks much better, I tell you what you can make a "wash" out of most any water based paint by simply adding floor cleaner such as "Bright – 1 step" to your paint. It lowers the surface tension of the paint, you may want to try that. Simply add as much as you wish till you get the "blend" you like. I cannot think of the chemical in it that does it but it works great, I picked it up at Wal-mart for about $3.00 USD and have had the same bottle for over a year now and it is not even half way gone yet. It reduces the surface tension, rubbing alcohol will do the same thing for some paints also but it drys (evaporates) quickly. It does not run like inks but it is pretty good and a lot less money then "washes", enables you to make any paint a "wash". Hope that helps |

have to wonder why did they cancel the Inks and go to washes if they did not intend for us to use the washes as inks? Since they are very different tools, I've been wondering the same thing. Similar or "identical" inks are available in several other lines (two of which are widely, if not universally, available) so it isn't the end of the world, but it is odd for GW to walk away from something like that. |

but it is odd for GW to walk away from something like that. I agree, and they are fantastic tools, so I was a bit suprised to find out that they discontinued the line, I ran out of chestnut and Dk Brown so I went down to the local store only to find this. Asked about them and thats when I was told they were released as washes. I purchases 3 of them – various types – went home and SUPRISE! as I begain to use them to discover they are not the same. I went to a Con last year and a guy had a ton of them for $1.00 USD a pop so needless to say I bought all he had. There are some great product out there, and the good thing is there is now more to choose from and from different makers. |

Andrew: Some one might have some old stock also, sounds like you have already had it in use for a continuous project, have you though about putting out something asking for those colors specifically and maybe some one has a couple kicking around that you can pick up? |

"maybe some one has a couple kicking around that you can pick up?" It bears repeating. The Vallejo ink line specifically apes the GW line now discontinued, and Vallejo doesn't drop colors when GW does. |

Bought the Valleho equivalent. Annoyingly, they dry matte, not semi-gloss. Luckily, I also have a bottle of Vallejo Gloss Medium, which shines it up again. Warlord, you've got a point. I'll keep an eye out. |
